Being born and raised in Tulsa, there's only one thing I can think of that I miss. Roy D. Mercer. And here's how it went. You could sic them on a friend or family member, give 'em a little info, and they'd take it from there. But near the end, they'd confess and tell you who sent them. Billy Goldberg. My favorite ones... Tracy Morgan is the best ever and it just seems to come natural!
As far as I know. It was on Phil and Brent's show every Thursday morning. Work in most shops would stop because who knows? It might be someone you know getting pranked.
Loved Roy D. Glad you picked the pet hamster clip. I've heard most of the clips, but that's always been a favorite. Loved the reactions of the people they called too. Some were afraid he was gonna whip their ass, some said they would call the cops. But I remember one old broad that stood up to him "You come on down here loudmouth, I'll whip YOUR ass." Priceless, Thanks for the memory of what a major league crank call sounds like. Plus, I'm nobody's expert, but I don't think they cut and spliced those either. Remember when Roy was gonna whip the car salesman's ass because he wanted to show her his Probe. Great character.
On their show, you'd hear it live at 7 AM, (with a delay, of course) and then they'd replay it at 9 AM.
Y'all ever had an ass-whoopin'? Man, I had a few CDs of those calls. Hilarious shit. "My boy Raymond was down there at y'all's store...". Wasn't his daughter's name "Larteesha"?
The one that really sticks out for me is when Raymond got the safety gargles from some guy's store, and was racing around like "Mario Andrusi", and ended up running over Roy's musical mailbox from the Fangerhut Catalog.
Oh, this one? This one's pretty good too. This ol' boy gets a bit nervous.
