I swore to myself 3 years ago I would make it a priority to learn how to do this. Its now 3 years later and I haven't even touched my electric guitars in that long. I feel like fiddling around. Give me suggestions on good software. I have vst stuff and kinda know how to plug those into things but I'm not smrt about it. Some dude at work gave me sonar 8 and I'm all derp. Help me and I'll send tit pics.

Isn't that the same as sonar? Same company or whatever? I'm usually pretty smart but everything I record sounds horrible. Tons of noise.

I'm still using Sonar 8. I know it pretty good. I'll send you my digits if you need to get deeper than what we can do in this thread.

I just used it to add some bass and a little extra guitar to GP3's Mr Clutch song before I went to bed last night. I'll post it up when I get home in a few hours.

It's called a stealthplug. It makes the guitar work in those VST programs for simulated amps. It's not the amp sound thats bad it's just the background noise.

    You're better off with Teabag.
I haven't recorded anything in years.

I've never used stealthplug before, but I have some ideas about what can be causing noise.

Does your guitar have single coil or humbucking pups?

Humbuckers. The stealthplug is like any other ASIO thing you'd find.

I use a tascam 32 track portastudio and a effects processor. I always said I would learn the comp stuff too, but I know I never will.

Unshielded instrument cables can pick up all kinds of interference - same with SC pickups. Fluorescent lighting is well known to cause noise in guitar rigs. Light dimmer switches in a circuit are bad for audio too.

Have you ever held up a vibrating dildo next to your guitar pickups? It's sweeeeet.

I have no idea what's going on but it actually sounds good now. I'm using my laptop instead of the PC. It actually sounds really good.

    I tried a drill once.
    Didn't work out.
