So, my little baby is now 4 1/2 years old, and it's time to give her a more grown-up bedroom.

I'm retarded and never took a "before" pic. This is the closest thing I have to indicate what it was like...

The walls were pale yellow with a whitewash "linen" kind of treatment over the bottom 2/3. There were nursery rhyme lyrics painted in blue meandering up near the ceiling.

The curtains were baby blue with white stars. There was a matching runner on the dresser.

ANYWAY, here we go with the re-do...
    She picked the color herself.

With daylight streaming in, it looks mauve. But at night it's more purple.

The purple is eggshell finish. When it dried I painted swirls and dragonflies in a gloss polyurethane so that the result is subtle, but noticeable and the designs reveal themselves as you move about the room...

This is my favorite part so far!

I scuffed up the switchplate cover with sandpaper, brushed on some glue and sprinkled it with glitter. Then I sprayed it with a fixatif so the glitter doesn't come of on your hands every time you touch the switch. It kicks so much ass!

I spray-painted the switch itself and the screws silver too.

Looks great Dev! My kids will be swapping rooms in a couple of weeks. Bet my daughter would like that colour.

She said she wanted her room to look like Coraline's (from the movie- which is an awesome movie, btw- even as an adult). Anyhow that's the inspiration I'm drawing from.

She' been sleeping in our room while hers is being worked on, so I hope to finish soon. I'm sick of having sex on the office floor, the sofa, etc. I want my marital bed back! :cuss:

She's a girl. And no signs of gay tendencies yet. But if she IS gay, well that's cool... at least I know she's not getting knocked-up in high school.

Oooh-oooh! So here are some of the accessories!

My grandmom got these little guys to decorate her tree. I asked if I could have them afterward. I've got 5 which I'll hang from the ceiling by fishing line, so that they're suspended over her bed and a couple other places in the room. The glitter ties in the glittery switchplate, so it's not so random...

The kid picked this out herself. It's a place to store jewelry, which she actually does need...

And this lamp is just the most adorable fucking thing...

These are the linens. Curtains on the left, bedspread on the right. Both are a pale, neutral green. Not bright but not quite as neutral as "sage" green. They're light but "earthy" at the same time.

    I love it.
I did my kitchen myself and I'm pretty proud of it.

I actually worked in a furniture showroom doing sales and interior design before I started tattooing. It was fun- except for the sales part. And a lot of the shit I learned in art college applies to interior design as well.

Think of a theme, a "look" or style you want to go for. If you don't know, just get some home/decorating/kitchen magazines and tear out pics of shit you like (or search online and save pics). This will reveal your style. Also make a list of your necessities as far as function/practicality. If you want help, send the pics to me and I can totally help you as far as coming up with something cohesive; what compliments what, etc.

Are you doing the whole thing including cabinetry and appliances? Or just paint, linens, accessories, etc?

    Nope. She's a girl. And a girly-girl at that.

I never thought I wanted a girl. Especially a girly one. But I fucking love it!

Looks great, Dev! Love the color scheme!

Lisa, I would start by picking out a nice quartz countertop (more durable, more modern, less porous, and less expensive than granite) and some reasonable cabinetry, and then go crazy with the backsplash tile as your accent.

This kitchen would go beautifully with your Yankee theme in the dining room. :hhh:
