That was so fun. I was so proud when I was finally old enough to get my own membership card.
I spent more time trying to decide what to rent than watching the damn movie.
I hated when the one movie I absolutely wanted was sold out.
Sucked balls when you went there to get a specific movie and they were out of it.
Remember making your mom pay the late fees for your video games rental?
"Just pay it already you cunt"
And you'd have to go to the front desk and hopefully there would be one in the return bin.
My most rented movie would probably be Big Trouble in Little China.
The look on the clerk's face when I put I Spit On Your Grave on the counter
I managed a video store in the 90s.
The porn guy would show up every other week to sell the latest vids. We would go out to the parking lot, he would open up his trunk and it was filled with porn vids. He'd give me his sales pitch in the middle of the parking lot in plain view.
"Black anal is big right now! You're gonna want this! It'll rent like crazy!"
His name was Mel, he was about 5'5" with a toupee.
I mostly went for the Raquel Darrian and Christy Canyon vids.
I didnt even go to a Blockbuster until I had kids.
i used to love going on Tuesdays during the summer because thats when all the new releases came out on my Nintendo games
and youd stand by the return bucket hoping to see it
Went all the time as a kid, worked there for 6 months back in 05 when I was in highschool before it all went to shit.
Terrible job btw, the only benefit was the free/early rentals. I would take home scores of DVDs every week and rip them to DVD. Had two huge binders full of movies.
We never went to Blockbuster. We'd go to the local video store that is still there to this day.
P.S. ~ I have no idea how they're still in business. I go up there a couple of times a year if I feel like watching something old and can't find it on demand. The rentals are $3 shitty dollars, I always give $5. Thank you.
there was a super drugstore by me called PharMore. they had their own video/video game rental shop inside. loved it
I remember going with a few friends all the time in HS. I remember it being kind of a pain to get everyone to agree on a movie though.
I was molested in a blockbuster, guise
Be kind, please rewind.
