Discussion in 'The Howard Stern Show' started by smichal, Apr 7, 2013.
My DVR is gonna blow up. There's so much good stuff on tonight!
Trumps on at same time. The Donald Trump trumps Donald Draper.
2 hours! can't wait.
People are hating hard core on Megan, don't know why, I like her character and Jessica Pare is hot.
I hope Don's daughter is even hotter this year. She's blossoming nicely.
worse teeth than Booey
Howard doesnt watch MAD MEN. Not faggy enough for him.
I like her teeth, nobody's perfect. It's better than getting them fixed and looking like Howard's.
her face, particularly her mouth, reminds me of freddie mercury. she was topless in hot tub time machine. she has some nice big tits.
c'mon! did u guys watch it? let's discuss!
* fat betty with brown hair.. even the kids told her she looks ugly
* who is the violin playing girl
* glad to see don never stopped his cheating ways but that is really bad that he is pretending to be nice to the surgeon
* pete's hair is disappearing
I did not watch it yet, I have it on my TiVo
That scene where she was cleaning house in her underwear and told Draper that he was too old for her and he couldn't touch.....Only watch... Man she was some kind of sexy!!!!
ok I don't want to spoil it for you guys who didn't see it yet!
Let's discuss after.
BTW betty says something really creepy to her husband.
Yeah she did! Other than a few scenes I thought it seemed really tired...like the show has lost it's way. The pacing is horribly slow and the setup is so mundane it's boring. Don barely speaks for the first 15 minutes. Plus it's a mistake to make the women fat and have Don ALWAYS drunk and tired. And he goes "out for cigarettes" and comes back several hours later after banging his latest babe. Megan's dumb but she can't be that stupid. I was a fan in the first season but I might quit watching.
OK, if you're clicking on a mad men thread the day after the season premiere, it should be a given that you're going to be spoiled if you haven't watched. otherwise....
As for the premiere, I absolutely loved it ... for the first 20 minutes....then it dragged. and dragged. and dragged. and dragged.
now, I don't mind mad men episodes. But last year's 2-hour season premiere dragged, too.
the point is I cannot stand 2-hour mad men premieres...
Mad Men is one of those shows where if you are patient you should DVR the entire season and then burn through it in a marathon. Like reading an engaging book. Shows like True Blood, Breaking Bad, or Game of Thrones work well week by week as they always have some huge twist or turn to give you a week's worth of watercooler discussion. But Mad Men has some episodes that are entirely setup for later payoffs. I watched the premier and felt disconnected. It was all atmosphere and no plot advancement. It's not like a Breaking Bad or Thrones where the first episode has some insane electrifying opening. I'll be taping the shows and then rapid firing it the week before the season finale which I'll watch live.
generally speaking, people aren't too fond of high-maintenance attention-whores
Yeah, that "out for cigarettes" thing was very lame........................it felt like a cheap shot "gotcha!" moment. Just when we thought Don was keeping it in his pants.......................
But Megan's fucking out on him, too. She doesn't go from "barely in one scene" to "they need me every day!" in one week without a little and
And when did Betty get nice?
And I bet they had to butter up Red's hips to get her into that dress. Man, did she balloon up! Lay off the HoHos, honey.
One good thing about the premiere is that they didn't skimp on the Whitey.
But there's a really big problem with the show: there are three stories now, and two of them suck.
Don, and the doings of the people in the office -
Betty, the kids, and her new husband and mother-in-law - WGAF?
Peggy at her new job - WGAS................aside from JHiG?
Everybody used to be under one roof, but the story is much too splintered now to maintain the quality of the early seasons. They've literally put themselves in the position of having to write for three shows instead of one; of course things are going to suffer.
It's really, really fucking simple: more (or at least always as much) Whitey, more stuff at and around Don's office, and much, much, much less (as in "no") Peggy and Betty.
The Peggy and Betty stuff are nothing but "Johnny Cakes".
If they want an interesting female character on the show, they should bring back Megan's mom somehow; she was great!
I'm partial (this is my favorite show) but the first 20 mins were just incredible. Everyone talked to Don but he never spoke back until he was at the bar with the soldier on leave, yet it all seemed so natural. Don and roger seem to be obsessed with death and there are 24 episodes to go. Good stuff.
Don is an empty shell..he's all perfect looking on the outside but on the inside there's nothing there. He's not even Don Draper, he's faking that. He used to be able to put all his lies and feelings in neat little compartments and do his job and be the best man at it, now he's failing at that. He screwed up the ad campaign and came drunk to a wake. Maybe the show hasn't lost its way, maybe its Don that has lost his way...or maybe I'm full of shit and the show just isn't as good as once was.
