Billy Joe Royal wasn't a goddamn Country star.

He was a rock & roll pop star with hits covered by a few Country stars including Lynn Anderson.
His records charted on the Pop charts.
He had at least 3 hits.
He produced terrific regional rock & roll hits by other artists- many which hit the top of the charts in the mid-sixties.

He was a session man who appeared on Bob Dylan's greatest album Blonde On Blonde.

But he wasn't no goddamn Country star.
