The long delayed big screen adaptation of "Jonny Quest" has gotten reanimated. Robert Rodriguez has signed on to direct the cinematic version of the Hanna Barbera cartoon that ran during the 1964 -'65 season, the Daily News has confirmed. Warner Bros. is moving forward with the project about an the adventures of a globe-trotting boy, his scientist father and best friend, a Calcutta orphan named Hadji. Rounding out the team was family bodyguard Race Bannon and a spunky bulldog named Bandit. Rodgriguez and "Pirates of the Caribbean" scribe Terry Rossio will rewrite an existing script by Dan Mazeau, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Though the series didn't last long during its initial run in primetime on ABC, the show found a new audience in syndication in the '80s, Producing the "Johnny Quest" film will be Dan Lin, who helped build the "Lego Movie" franchise. In an earlier incarnation that stalled in 2010, Zac Efron had been attached in the title role.
