This scumbag is about to become a millionaire. They just had to beat him up.

Nearly a dozen California deputies were suspended after a video emerged showing several officers beating a suspect for more than a minute after he was hit by a Taser and apparently surrender.

Francis Jared Pusok, a convicted felon who is a suspect in an identity theft case, fled from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies first by car, then on foot, then on horseback on Thursday afternoon.

The video, filmed by a TV news crew in a helicopter, showed two deputies apprehending Pusok after he fell from the horse in rugged hills some 90 miles east of Los Angeles. The two deputies Tasered him at least once, authorities said, and at one point he threw up his arms, seemingly in an attempt to surrender. But the two deputies began to kick and punch him, landing shots to his head and groin. The beating continued for more than a minute, and several other law enforcement officers joined in, in some cases even pushing others away so they could get a lick in on the defenseless suspect.

“The video surrounding this arrest is disturbing, and I have ordered an internal investigation be conducted immediately,” San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner John McMahon said in a statement. “In addition, members of the Specialized Investigations Detail are responding to conduct the criminal investigation.”

McMahon later said that his office identified 10 deputies involved in the violent incident and were placed on paid administrative leave. The case will be handled by the county's district attorney, who will determine if criminal charges are warranted.

Pusok’s lawyer likened the beating to the infamous video of cops in Los Angeles pummeling the late Rodney King.

“What I saw on the television was thugs beating up my client,” the attorney, Jim Terrell, told CBS Los Angeles. “That’s what I saw. And these questions about ‘What was he doing?’ What did they do? This is far worse than Rodney King.”

The video also drew a response from the American Civil Liberties union, which said it was "deeply troubled" by the suspect's treatment.

Pusok, 30, lives in Apple Valley, Calif., a town in San Bernardino County. Shortly after noon, local time, on Thursday, sheriff’s deputies went to Pusok’s home to serve a search warrant related to an identity theft case, according to McMahon’s

The sheriff's department has said Pusok was the “prime suspect” in an identity theft case, a claim his girlfriend of more than 13 years, Jolene Binder, said "is not true."

On a prior domestic call, McMahon said, Pusok “made threats to kill a deputy sheriff and in fact shot a puppy in front of part of his family."

But when deputies arrived at the home, Pusok was already in a car, sheriff's department spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said.

He fled, starting a nearly three-hour chase through Apple Valley and Hesperia, the department statement said. He led deputies through narrow trails and rugged terrain in Hesperia, requiring the California Highway Patrol and the sheriff’s department to bring helicopters and motorcycle teams to help track him, Bachman said.

After Pusok fled his vehicle, he stole a horse from a group of people at Deep Creek Hot Springs, Bachman said.

A team of deputies came upon him around 3 p.m. near Highway 173 and Arrowhead Lake Road, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies used a Taser on Pusok but it "was ineffective due to his loose clothing," according to the sheriff's department.

Pusok’s previous brushes with the law span more than a decade through several counties in California, according to public records.

He pleaded no contest to felony attempted robbery in a 2006 incident as well as to several misdemeanor charges, including disturbing the peace and animal cruelty. In December, he was charged in San Bernardino County with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest; he pleaded no contest.

But his girlfriend said his past doesn’t matter at this point.

"The focus" now, she said, "needs to be on what happened yesterday ... regardless of what happened in his past or anybody's past, they shouldn't be beat."

The suspect was face down and put his hands behind his back to be cuffed. Then the beating commenced.

HOWEVER, Chris Rock said it best: "If the police have to come and get you, they're bringing an ass-kicking with them."

He'll get something for sure. Police abuse is a huge media story right now and they really don't have a defense. He is lying on his stomach with his hands behind his back not moving a muscle.

Yes, but he is very white and fled the po-po. Why would a white person run away from the police?

Give him some bandages and a new t-shirt. Case closed.

An active-duty cop told me this recently at a BBQ. They followed a suspect, he started running and threw a baggie away as he ran which turned out to be a decent size bag of pot. The cops caught up with him and, his exact words, "we get to have a little fun with him before we bring him in". He went on to say they beat the shit out of him and put him in the hospital. Nothing he won't recover from, but a beating for sure. 100% true story (as told to me, that is)

Fortunately, Rodney King was able to take the proceeds from his award, clean up his life, and set an example for his community.

Or did he just blow all of the money getting high and die an early death? I forget which.

If I were a total fucking idiot, I would reply with:

"Oh, so you're saying what the police did was justified? "

I like the cop who comes running in at the 1:40 mark like he's doing a kick-off in the NFL.... 20 yard sprint to kick the guy in the head

Funny how we accept that it's okay for wolf packs of cops to beat up suspects AFTER they surrender. The scumbag who stole the horse clearly deserved to be charged with resisting arrest, but (with cameras rolling) the dumb San Bernardino cops as usual thought they were above the law which makes them no better than the criminal they arrested, and now the taxpayers will pay the price. And your cop friend at the BBQ is a piece of shit.
