i know roku streams amazon. i'm not sure if Apple TV. i know my blu ray doesn't. that would be the deciding factor for me.

i haven't tried the Roku 3 yet, but if it anything like the earlier models, Apple TV blows it away for video and sound quality

Roku works pretty good for me. Don't know anything about the apple box. :dontknow:

Another option is to buy a smart TV.

I think the only way to watch Amazon would be to play it on your iOS device and Airplay it to the Apple TV. Not an optimal situation.

Apple TV does not stream Amazon. Also if you are going to stream your saved movies, they have to be in MP4 or M4V format. That means you have to convert your MKVs and AVIs etc.

Other than that, I love the Apple TV. I've never tried Roku but have had 2 of the Western Digital WDTVs. The Apple TV is way better as far as reliability and ease of use.

Seems that's the dilemma.. Apple-TV streams YouTube.. But Roku doesn't... and Roku has Amazon streaming, but Apple-TV doesn't

I forgot about Airplay. It is fantastic. I stream Big Ten Network from my Ipad to my Apple TV all the time.

I have had an Apple TV for about 3 years now, and I use it everyday. Very happy with it.

I'm able to tie in the stereo and the TV with it.

I have a Roku and Amazon Prime and it works for me. I think it depends on what you want to stream. Not familiar with Apple TV. Google device may be a good way to go, but it was not out when I was looking at the Roku and other devices.

There is a workaround for youtube on Roku -- you install the Twonky app on your phone and on the. Roku -- it works fine
