I wish I could've made my parents attend some of my baseball games or high school running events. I was the family outcast, and while I won some real trophies, it might have been nice to have a parent see us win.
I don't think kids should get trophies for showing up.
you learn far more by losing than getting some bullshit trophies.
When a parent does this on social media,
It really isn't about the kids.
Daddy wants a participation trophy for father of the year.
Ya thats what james harrison wants , dumb fuck
I won a punt/pass/kick trophy and my parents didn't want to have to drive me to the next round out of town an hour and a half. So they sent me with the local car dealer who sponsored the event. Ford or Chevy, I forget now.
Mr. Harrison gets it. Go Steelers!
Did he get a trophy when he smacked his girlfriend around?
Some role model....
He's a douche.....but he's not wrong here. You play games to win or lose them.......you don't play them to get some stupid trophy for being the worst player on the team.....that does nothing but give them false hopes. Kids need to learn their limitations early.....then they can excel at what they are truly good at.
The youth league my son joined, doesn't keep score the first three years. He played T-ball the first year, but I took him to a private league the year after.
Doesn't keep score
I used to coach youth sports.....couldn't take it anymore. Too many arguments with parents.
No shit, you were neglected as a kid?
Would have never guessed.
I was just about to say this. A win teaches you nothing. If anything it probably makes you a little softer.
I loss on the other hand. A loss gives you motivation and wisdom
