Russia, Syria, the economy, and Jeb Bush's candidacy being a failure are all things he accurately called. If it were to be Bush vs Clinton, the last Clinton is much better regarded than the last Bush, that criteria would not favor Bush or the Republicans.

“Jeb, to be very honest, I think it’s very hard for you to post up against Hillary Clinton and to separate yourself from the difficulty of the W. years and compare them with the Clinton years.” He said Bush responded by saying that “he was going to make his campaign about the future, not about the past.”

“I didn’t say anything at that point,” Romney recalled. “But as he left, I said to myself, ‘Gosh, in my opinion, it’s not going to be as easy to make that separation as I think he gives the impression it will be.’ One of the few things I predicted that turned out to be true.”

Its scary the things Romney predicted that have come to pass. I held my nose and voted for him in 2012. Turns out to be one of my better votes.

I was never impressed with Romney, but would vote for him over Hillary. I trust a Mormon Investment Banker more than a Walmart lawyer.

Yeah, that was big problem for him in the 2012 race. If he had been able to do that, he may well have won.

If Romney owned his wealth instead of trying to hide it and downplay it, it would have been better for him.

I'm hoping he rides in at the last minite and grabs the nomination via a brokered convention.

Romney was a pandering, flip flopping ineffective 1 term governor who made his money at Bain acquiring and gutting companies.. bloodletting jobs in the interest of increasing shareholder wealth. And then of course there's the "magic underwear' stuff. LOL

I don't see the problem with the second part of that statement, given that it was his job to increase shareholder wealth. Any private company exists, in a sense, to consolidate wealth within the ranks of its equity stake-holders and reduce the wealth of non-shareholders. When you work for Bain, your job is to undercut Schwab, JP Morgan, Blackrock, etc etc. Your quarrel is with public policy; which brings us to his candidacy.

To that end the first part of your sentence is dead on: he was a terrible campaigner, and tried to be all things to all people. Impossible to do. He should have owned his past and remained true to the Weld-Leach-Rockefeller brand of Republicanism that he started with. The Republican party needs a reminder that it once had really really good, and electable, moderate candidates. Here in California, the movement for ideological purity and far-right politics has destroyed the party. Romney represented the last gasp of moderate Republicanism . . . which is a shame.
