Stern related because not only is Billy Idol, Patrick Swayze, Kris Kristofferson, Richards, etc in the audience, so is Sandra Bernhard. :snicker:

Was just watching this. Awesome to have your backup band being....

    Bruce Springsteen
    Tom Waits
    Jim Burton (Elvis's guitarist)
    Ronnie Tutt(Elvis's drummer)
    Elvis Costello
    Jackson Browne
    J.D.Souther (Eagles writer)
    Steven Soles (Dylans guitarist)
    Jerry Sheff (The Doors)

    Back up Singers....

    Bonnie Raitt
    KD Lang
    Jennifer Warnes

Awesome stuff between Springsteen and Burton at 2:22

Embarrassing @ARM teen fact, I didn't know who he was until the "Traveling Wilbury's" as an MTV brat.

I grew up with Orbinson because my mother would always listen to him, but also first saw him later on, on VH1 with the Traveling Wilbury's. Great group looking back.

I should have followed up on him more, a total original hypnotic singing voice.

Yeah he did. Like an "opera" voice or something. Good stuff.

I probably did, just like I thought Manfred Mann did "Blinded By the Light" over Springsteen or "Hazy Shade of Winter" was a BANGLES song over SIMON & GARFUNKEL.

YUP, evidently the lyric is actually "DEUCE" but you can't tell listening.

Another I remember was thinking Billy Idol's "LA Woman" was original over THE DOORS.

It certainly was! OOOHH I'm sure I'll think of worse than that. I'm just listing them as they come to me.

Oh oh oh....here's a good one...I seriously thought THE SUNDAYS were the original author of "Wild Horses" over the ROLLING STONES. Good job they do on that cover, if I may say!?

I genuinely thought GUN N' ROSES authored "Knocking on Heaven's Door" over Bob Dylan.

You're too funny! I had an older sister who used to quiz me when songs came on the radio and she loved the Stones. I was and still am team-Beatles.

He had a pretty tragic life. His wife died in a motorcycle accident and a few years later two of his three kids died in a fire. Elvis Presley once stated that Roy had the best voice he'd ever heard.

This is all genuine. I had an older sister too, but I was firmly hell-bent on finding my own GEN-X music and not glomming off GEN-W.

I sort of deliberately avoided ALL things Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Who, Pink Floyd etc etc because I thought it was too posery or phony or safe or easy to say you liked those things at my age when I wasn't their target audience when it was actually made.

And I DIDN'T like it at the time, that dinosaur-rock kind of bored me when I'd be driving with someone 5 to 10 years older. I went to a Rolling Stones/Living Colour concert when I was a teen and left after Living Colour played because that's who was there to see.

I've always had a thing for Harriet Wheeler. Sundays were a good band. Her and her husband decided that raising their family was more important.
