I think it started as a joke/contest and they just kept it going. I tend to prefer the pre-beard ZZ Top, but I love them boys... BTW, the drummer, who has no beard, is named Frank Beard.

Grew up next door to a 180 year old widow, who's name was Myrtle...

Con artists will scan phone listings for names like Edna, Elsie, Myrtle.

LaGrange is a kick ass tune. Love the guitar.

ZZ doesn't seem to tour much. I'd like to see them at some place like Billy Bob's in Fort Worth.

They must be getting on up in years, but they still pop up here and there...I only saw them once, at Hirsch Memorial Colosseum, in Shreveport, 1983, and it was the wildest freakiest crowd I've ever been in.

I saw Billy Gibbons and Jeff Beck play together, along with Jimmie Vaughn at a small party not long ago. Beck and Gibbons looked like zombies.

Single women of any age should never use their first names in phone directories. Use initials, or your deceased husband's name.

Billy is real big into hot rods and custom cars. It's a shame, though, that the beard and the costumes and showmanship cause people to often overlook the fact that the man is a truly phenomenal guitarist, and a scholar of the Blues.

Beck and Vaughn are also big into the hot rod scene, and Jimi hendrix's fave geetarist was Billy Gibbons. That's saying sumptin'.

LOL! She was like something right out of a movie. Always crabby, yelling at us kids not to walk through her yard, grudgingly paid me $5 a whack to mow her yard...
