Sal "These Goddamned socialites, who are out every fuckin' night, all dressed up. You think they give a rats ass about what they're representing? No! They just want to drink Martini's & look good & be shot for a magazine"

Jon "Some socialites do that, some don't"

Gary (nervously) "Sal, you're off on a tangent"

A few years back I recall Beth talking about the scene after the actual "Charity Event" is worth the wait...ie drinking and partying

Sal has so much anger and resentment for what Howard has become and he can't say a word. At least here, we can post our opinions of what a phony asshole Howard has become.
Wish Sal would post here...it would probably save him the the ulcer he is going to get (if he doesn't have it already)

It would probably be good for Sal to post here for a little while but eventually he'd let too much info hit the board and be discovered by Pelican's Reputation Guard Legion.

I think his suggestion that everyone shave their head for cancer was a HUGE NO-NO amongst the sheepy staffers.

I've been to a few "charity events". They are just a bunch of rich or semi-rich people that dress up, drink & party, and pat themselves on the back for doing 'charity' work when all they did is show up and write a check. It is nauseating.

I think it was another veiled dig at Howard....After all, you can't shave a wig off.

I've seen both sides of it with charities. You've got the boots-down people and then you have the benefactors. Sometimes you'll see the folks who do the parties (which is really just a fundraiser) doing the actual work of the charity (you probably saw this when you did the vet stuff) and they aren't the best workers. They take a ton of breaks and complain of aches and pains.

I participated in building a house, for example, for a charity and you could tell the benefactor-types a mile away.

I have always thought that Howard's therapist was actually Don Buchwald. Would have made sense to needing to meet with him so often,,, especially during the negotiations of leaving terrestrial radio... Rem he was allegedly going 4 days a week in the mid 2000s. THAT too could be another veiled dig...

Sal asked Howard if his therapist was a man or woman... Howard answered... woman.... then 20 minutes later Howard referred to his therapist as a "he".

You're the reverse of a socialite charity supporter. Their idea of getting their hands dirty is to cut the opening ribbon.

Yes you are correct..(I'm in the boots-down class) but I tend to like the benefactors that just give b/c they want to, and don't need a red carpet, non stop alcohol, and a big party to get them to give. B/c all those parties cost $, which could go directly to the charity. Just sayin'

I was just about to make a thread on this. Booey and Hein were scared shitless trying to move on when Sal made these statements.
