I think I'll hit the seashore tomorrow and try it out, who wants to go and fuck it up with me?
I always go to the competition at Hampton Beach.
I don't like that they truck in special sand though. I think they should use the sand that fucking god put there.
i wasnt aware of that . . . youre right.
You'll be busy with your movie.
cool, you clear the brats and trash out of the way, I'll bust out the pails and sand scoops.
My beach is too rocky. All the sand washed away during the blizzard over the winter. Not sure it's ever coming back.
your wife sleeps in, and she aint ready for the camera until after the witching hour.
Oderus, did you see I got your smiley added? Hover over it.
holy shit. Nice!
i never went to the Hampton one
what do you want to sculpt with me?
the sand they use is not artificial: it is cleaned and of a consistent grain size (like you get from Home Depot making concrete. you can see the difference by holding a wet lump of it in your hand, and then trying the stuff from the east coast beaches.
much of the natural stuff is not fine enough or of consistent size. for example, if you were at Sandy Hook, NJ the sand is almost half natural glass and just will not shape and flow when wet.
i like how temporary the sculptures are. they never last more than a day since the tide wipes them out. you have to experience them for the moment and then they're gone.
you should have used a girl scout.
they don't know the real oderus like i do
The ones at Hampton are above the tide line and last for a week or so. They cordon them off so as long as there isn't a storm, they survive. I understand the reason for the sand but it sort of makes it less special. Like they may as well do it in a studio. Using the real sand from the beach would be much more impressive.
these are Hampton sand sculptures
