NJ Performing Arts Center in Newark. The smaller of the two theaters there, a couple of hundred people. Scheduled 8PM start, around 8:15 a female comic by the name of Marlena Rodriguez came out, did around 20 minutes (she was okay) then introduced Gilbert. He did a solid one hour, non-stop show, from longer stories, to one-liners to some simple prop humor. Bunch of impressions too, all the stuff Gilbert fans love. Absolutely hilarious. After the show he was in the lobby selling a DVD and posing for pictures (didn’t have to buy anything). Tickets pretty reasonable $39.50 each. If you’re a fan, highly recommended!

My wife and I saw him a couple years ago at a small place in Jersey, The Stanhope House, he was great of course. After the show he was selling his DVD in the lobby and I complimented him on the then relatively new podcast and he was so happy and a little surprised to hear it. He is so nice and approachable, we spoke for a while, and so different from his act. What a sweet guy, he deserves all good things and the success he's having now.

No N-word, but he was by no means "politically correct". I think the very first thing he said was "I hate midgets". Also goofed on the Japanese and deaf actress Marlee Matlin. Some of his stuff was cringeworthy.

A friend of mine opened for him in Canada for a three night stint. He said the first show was a hip crowd and he destroyed the room. The next two nights he didn't do as well because it was a lot of younger ticket buyers. I would say anybody under 30 should save their money, unless they swallowed whole almanacs and would be familiar with Gilbert's impression of Moms Mabley doing lines from Bride of Frankenstein.

He did some prop humor? Was it the squid bit with the napkins?

He did some impressions? Let me guess; Ralph Kramden in "On the Waterfront?" Gilbert "Dice" Gottfried?
...And he did that "Aristocrats" joke too, didn't he?

Please tell me I'm wrong. Please tell me he did some material that's less than 30 years old...

    That's so sad.

How could Mom's Mabley quoting Bride of Frankenstein - even if you're not familiar with the references - be anything other than funny???

    Kids today, am I right?

Yeah, I saw Gilbert tweet about the KFC campaign early Sunday morning or Sat and just assumed someone photoshopped that and Artie as an option as well. I saw the actual commercial around 9 pm and realized it was for real.
I am torn on who to want. Lol.

He had a roll of masking tape, stuck some on his face, you knew Groucho was gonna be one of the impressions.

Most stuff was different from what you asked except for "Dice", but not a lot that was less than 30 years old.
