I'm listening to the audiobook "Beyond Belief" by Jenna Miscavige Hill. She is the niece of the head wacko in charge of scientology. She left the group in 2005. Pretty interesting hearing her insights and what it was like growing up in that bizarre environment. It's also pretty wild hearing hearing what they believe and how they advance in the cult. I'm only about 1/2 way through but am rivitted......rivitted I say.

I score audiobooks since I have a long commute and can listen while doing farm projects as well. Not much time to sit and actually read unfortunately.

BTW......I don't find the scientology belief system any more fucked up than I do most traditional religions. It actually, IMO, has more merit in some regards but that isn't saying much.

It's like the mafia in a way, you can't leave because they have so much shit on you they could destroy your life. Probably why Travolta and Tom Cruise can't leave if they wanted.

You got to see if you can find a copy of "Inside Scientology" by Janet Reitman. It deals with some of the crazy shit behind the scenes as well. Some Scientologists claim its inaccurate, but most of the info came from people still in the :quote: church :quote:

    you're welcome.

for a group being so against psychiatrists, they choose to ignore that L. Ron Hubbard most likely was bipolar and a compulsive liar.

Charles Manson tried out auditing for a while, but found it too "crazy". Ironic in a way.

Lord is he one too? They coddle their Hollywood people, for PR purposes. You won't find Travolta scrubbing toilets with a toothbrush.

There were several big head-fucking cults back then Charlie played around with I think.

Yeah, Will Smith and his wife joined. It was a way for the group to try and get more blacks to join in. Supposedly they tried getting David and Victoria Beckham to join, but they said no once they realized they would be required by the leaders to take one of their sons off his anti seizure medication.

I believe Manson used Scientology type stuff on his family later on.

they ignore pretty much everything honest Hubbard ever wrote. for example "the easiest way to become a millionaire is to invent a religion" which he then proved correct.
