I am curious how Wiggy and Buchwald will spin this. I am sure it is because Simon Cowell is just jealous of how Howig turned the show around and brought his millions of fans into watch the show weekly...despite the ratings steadly decreasing since he joined the show.
My guess is Howard starts ragging on Simon for wearing tight tshirts to show off his buffness and hard nips.
Jay Leno like feud here we come.
How is this bad? Sony agreed it was better to keep Howard. Cowell is the one that should be embarrassed.
Pretty sure when the Creator of your show wants you off, it's not a good thing. Whether you end up staying or not.
AGT (Sony & NBC) probably took advantage of NYS/NYC's generous TV/Film production credits, lowering the costs and not needing to replace The Wigged One.
And he was wrong. Cowells last show bombed. Doesnt matter what he thinks.
He was wrong? About what?
Don't see how an opinion like "Replace him with Simon Cowell" could be considered "wrong." It's just a suggestion, right? What about "moving the show back to LA would save money in production costs?" That doesnt sound wrong.
Sounds more like NBC didn't want to look like fools for having to replace the savior they were banking millions on to bring in the ratings. Remember that HUGE super bowl ad they had to announce his arrival!
Ask Howard how it's bad, because he obviously thinks it is.
There are a number of possibilities with how this went down. It's possible they had the meeting and decided to let Howard finish his 3 year contract (if that's what he has) instead of buying him out. For all we know, it's already been decided the show will move back to CA for next season. Or maybe, NBC said they want it to stay in NY with Howard. We don't know, but going by how Howard seems to have reacted to the e-mail, he seems pretty unnerved.
and it looks good for the creator that they told him to pound sand?
I don't think so it shows there was a problem with Sterns reception on the show. He didn't want to replace the other judges or even Howie
It shows that there is acknowledgement that for all the monetary concessions the made for Stern
They got no bang for their buck
They entertained Cowell offer even though they didn't accept it. He could have wanted too much money and control. Maybe his image as adultery with his best friends wife on a yacht orgy might have been too much for the sterling peacock network
This dovetails nicely to Howard doing so much filming in LA, we're it's cheaper to shoot, (the NY theatrical and stage unions must be killing the budget) and Howard saying he was bamboozled.
It's sounds like the filmed his judge's video snippet in LA not NYC.
maybe it took him longer to sign because they played hardball with him
He had to be there for the 10th anniversay. It makes him sound like family oriented AGT is a bigger part of his otherwise not safe for prime time career.
I bet he brought ringers to the tapings to shout out Stern referenced or his name.
So nice he couldn't reach into his pocket and give MAFB a LA trip for all the free content and rebranding cache she brings to the table
They replace Stern with Regis Philbin
The ratings will go thru the roof
What was his reaction?
Was it the Sony Hacks what Howard compared to 911?
If so then he knew they were not happy with his results.
Explains all the spin
"Robin, I'm trying to spin..I mean tell a story and you're not helping me"
You're spending too much time on stupid reality TV shows.
No, but it still doesnt take away the fact that Cowell wanted him gone! I am all for any kind of dust up in the stern universe. You know, since the show isn't really that interesting anymore. I am thrilled when the news comes in this form! And i am sure when stern gets back from vacation he will play the same card. "Well Robin, I'm still there arent I? And this year's show is the best, we have the best talent i have ever seen. So that's the end of that. UGH Robin I am exhausted."
In the old days, this would have made for some fun radio. Now, i doubt it.
Cowell wanted him gone because for the first time in almost 15 years he isn't on US TV--The guy has an ego 1000x bigger than Sterns. he wants back on US TV, plain and simple. The reality is, Cowell has been a big hit on TV once, American Idol, at the time he was a novelty because he was mean, he hasn't come up with a anything new in years and his ego needs to be stroked. Period
And how awesome would it be if if stern came out swingin like the old days, callin Cowell out on all those points you just made?!?!?!
