screaming trees was the best of all of the seattle bands, imo. it was a legit music scene and it killed the shitty hair band era. sadly, the seattle/grunge movement was ended by hanson and britney spears. that's hella gay. then again, the shitty off-shoot bands of the seattle movement (e.g., candle box, bush, etc) were also hella gay.

The only band out of that scene that I really couldn't get into was Pearl Jam, and to this day they don't mean shit to me.

I worked with a guy who claimed that Creed would be the biggest "grunge" band ever; bigger than Led Zepplin :jj:

    Hated everything about alt/grunge/Seattle bands.

I've said it before and said it again: MTV is a powerful force. Without them putting "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in heavy rotation, the whole grunge scene would've been confined to the Northwest. MTV was trying to finish off hair metal--in some ways, that was a good thing, because it had been watered down by the likes of Firehouse and Ugly Kid Joe--so they played Nirvana's video, and suddenly, disillusioned kids had something to identify with. The other bands that came along--Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots--benefited from the success of Nirvana's video. Alice In Chains was the only band out of them that I considered to have more than marginal talent.

LMAO at Creed, what a fucking joke band.

    pearl jam clones are everywhere
fuck that shit, go cut your fucking hair
    Seattle sound is all around
but where's the huevos in that sound
go to the Whisky, see a band
just all an 'L' and you've got bland
all those bands just sound the same
and they all look so fucking lame
and I don't want to hear it
    everybody's trying to make it
heard it all a million times
grab the brass ring before it falls down
wish they'd all just go away
    pearl jam clones are everywhere
fuck that shit, go cut your fucking hair
    not one word original
    not one word original
and then they all fall down
    they all go down
    grab the brass ring
    find the pot of gold
