What a conflicted guy, the papers and TV here are filled with story after story about genuinely nice things the guy did as well as giving 4 million away through his foundation to local causes, mostly kids charities. Then there's the negative behavior, driving off the road, domestic violence trouble etc. it will be interesting to see if the brain study yields any physiological issues.

...the outpouring of love for him was really touching, good people are hard to find. i think their study will find something, mohammed ali is all jacked up from being hit too. cant be good to go slamming your head around even with a helmet on.

I agree, I think they will find something there. It was kind of a punch to the gut to hear he had died, he was a real asset to this area.

I wonder how the bullet through the brain will affect their study.

Does anyone else find it bizarre that his desire (if, it really was his desire) to have his brain examined could have been done WHILE HE WAS ALIVE?

I mean, I know there was another player who also committed suicide and who also purposely achieved the act without harming his brain tissue, but people? CAT-scans, blood work (to determine hormone-levels, etc.) or some other type of medication that could help any concomitant behavioral problems (major depression disorder, etc.).

It's really throwing the baby out with the bath water.

I know he was concerned about damage to his brain from concussions, but couldn't that too be diagnosed in any other way other than autopsy? :dontknow: So sad.

Saw a report this morning that said the family may be having second thoughts about donating his brain.

Clearly, they're in need of a spare, then.
