I've been offered three jobs. Two are chemical sales. One is boiler and water treatment and the other is primarily waste treatment (removal of heavy metals and other toxic materials from effluent streams). The third is a company that works primarily in the utilities industry and designs scrubber systems and various chemical programs to allow plants to use coal with less co2, so2 and other emissions.

Boiler and water job. Home every night. Sorta boring. Pay the least. Right around 100-120. Car allowance

Wastewater guy, more travel. Couple nights a week most likely. Pay a little better more interesting technology

Power plant guy travel 70 percent. Pay like 150 or so. Most interesting job at least from my standpoint.

What would you do? I don't have young kids.

Car allowance adds a good bit to the first one. Unless the others have one as well, and if you have family at home, I'd go with that.

I'd do the power plant job, not only for the money, but because you find it the most interesting- that will help prevent job burnout in the near future. Also, there's a future in less polluting power plants, so the job should be there for many years to come.

Guys like travel. It gets them away from their routine drab lives, nagging wives and makes it easier to cheat without getting caught. How is Chiva these days?

Not even 8 hours. Its more like twilight, then night. Maybe a little sun, if its not snowing.
