The guy is the cowboy hat handcuffed to Oswald while he is being shot is Detective Jim Leavelle. He is being honored by the Dallas Police Department. He is 93 years old. This photo has to be one of the most famous photos of the Twentieth Century. The picture won the Pulitzer Prize. Imagine what's going through the detective's mind. Ruby could have shot both of them.

i don't think he was in much danger of being shot by Ruby; Ruby had his assigned target and did what he was supposed to do.

hats are cool, if you pick the right ones and wear them well. if you're clueless about them or wear cheap ones, you look cheap.

Look at crowd pics of baseball games from back in the 50's and 60's. All the guys are wearing suits, ties, hats, dress shoes. Very few women are there, but the ones that are are dressed to the nines, as they say. Not quite the bleacher-creature crowd of the '70s-80's, that's for sure......

...right. theres a new book coming out from a guy that worked in the johnson administration who has documents showing that johnson and nixon when a senator knew ruby and employed him in one way or another. book will be out just before the 50th year of the assassination. i was watching the tv for days on end after the shooting of kennedy, i saw ruby shoot oswald on live tv. it was the first actual murder ever shown on national tv they say. i dont know if the people in dallas had it on their tvs when kennedy was shot or if the motorcade was even aired. look at this secret service guy being waved off his normal duty to ride the bumber of the car or run along side of it.

Holy shit I never seen that. He literally told the SS agent to get out of the way. Even the agent was like, wtf are you talking about. They called it perfectly in JFK, this was an obvious American coup.

    It wasn't.

This incident occurred in 1960 over in Japan. Japanese Socialist Inerjiro Asanuma had a samauri sword run through him courtesy of a 17-year-old nationalist. I'm not saying this is the first, but it's a few years before the Ruby/Oswald incident.

...ive never seen that one. the best one was the politician who got caught cheating and called a press conference and blew his brains out at the podium with a 357 magnum while the media was filming.
