I mean she only appeared in Spaceballs right? Its not like she was a movie star like Robin Williams.
"Robin, the Oscar's didn't mention Joan because I already said it all"
nooooooooooooooo leave it be
Let's bring this back around....
Joan wasn't a fucking movie star.......
Mention her during the Comedy Oscars.
They should have mentioned Joan.
But since that cunt Melissa and that other cunt Howard says they should have mentioned Joan, then, no, they should not have mentioned Joan.
Her documentary should have been nominated
It was two or three years old.....
I liked Joan as a comedianne but she wasn't a movie star......sorry Melissa
Melissa should STFU and thank her lucky stars her mother paved the way for her
let me get this right she is upset that the people, the famous people Joan use to make fun of with her talentless daughter won't honor her, is that right??
Nobody gave a shit what Melissa had to say when Joan was alive. They care even less now.
Fuck off Melissa.
Didn't Joan Rivers write or produce a movie about Billy Crystal having a baby?
Her relevancy was "tangential" to movies, you know, a little like Howard is to show biz these days. So that would be an ixnay.
Joan did direct a movie (Rabbit Test) and back when it was strictly a man's game. She should have been recognized for that achievement alone. Where were all the liberal big mouth Hollywood elitist's who complain about the "war on women" and "equal pay for women"? Not a peep out of them, huh? Typical.
Does this mean that the Academy won't do a tribute to Wiggy when he goes ace-deuce?
I forgot about this documentary that was really quite good. I was going to say that she shouldn't have been in it but they had some pretty obscure people in there. Crew people and the like so yes I think she should have been mentioned BECAUSE of that documentary. There had to be some rationale for the omission.
She was a voice talent in the first "Look Whose Talking" along with her documentary and all of her work around the Oscar show so she was definitely connected to the industry but she wasn't truly known for being in the movie industry as much as TV and standup so that's why they could exclude her.
Still, she was a fixture on Oscar night and, given how she died and that she was still very active as an entertainer, they could have given her a moment.
But, Melissa should not make an issue of it. Why demean Joan's memory by doing that?
The woman INVENTED the red carpet interview in a form that now benefits actors by getting tons of free shit by asking one simple question "Who are you wearing?" She gave them an opportunity to plug designers so that EVERYONE who goes to the Oscars who is even a little famous gets to wear free, fabulous stuff.
That, and that alone, they should be kissing her dead ass.
Hollywood is just a more advanced form of an elitist club. Joan didn't fit in with the cool kids, so when she died, they wouldn't give her an ounce of respect.
