This is totally anecdotal so I'd love to hear input from others. I work as a Bartender in Vegas, my employer would rather fire me than give me overtime, if I or a coworker is more than 15 minutes late we better have a good explanation, apologize profusely or get ready for a job hunt. I have a friend who works as a cook, union gig so he's taken care of. If he goes past 8 hours he's going to get chewed up. He's so dedicated to his restaurant that he commonly comes in 30 minutes early and doesn't clock in, if the wrong person saw him do that he could be in deep shit. I think Overtime is great to see on the paycheck but I'm not getting it. And that just sucks. Only in a freak occasion do I ever see more than 40 hours on my check. I think it's hurting businesses and most importantly workers. I and I assume most wageslaves would rather do more work and get paid for it than be capped at 40.
