A show that hasn't been hip in 20 years referenced an old radio yenta that hasn't been hip in 10 years.

They have had lots Stern references over the year but it's still cool.

The Critic did it better when Stern was relevant:

This will be good for some filler in tomorrow's show, along with more flat Ronnie and the fantasy football league update no one wants to hear

I've never liked the Simosons and haven't liked the Stern Show in 5 years, but that sign is great.

Gary will of course come in with his usual "they're huge fans of the show" despite none of the cast or crew appearing on the show. Then Howard will talk about how he's been either been a big fan of the Simpsons or he's too cool to care that everyone wants to reference his show. Either way it's gonna be a real boring segment.

uh, it pains me to say this because I guess it's defending Stern, but, uhh, you really think Howie would ever have any interesting interviewing any of the Simpsons crew at any era of his radio show?

I think he had Hank Azaria on once in the 90s maybe. Don't think he's chomping at the bit for a Dan Castlenetta get.

I believe that Harry Shearer was on at least once.

That's because all of the Simpson's writing staff are old, out of touch, and no longer funny... Just like Howard.

Because Tan Mom is that much more interesting? Or a more valuable get? Hank Azaria is funnier that the entire Stern crew. And he would shoot himself just to talk to Matt Groening about his money(rumored to be north of 700 million dollars) as well as having to keep paying Sam Simon. I was actually pointing out that everyone Gary says is a "big fan of the show" never actually appears on it.

Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner and Harry Shearer were all on the Stern show in the 90s. They had Fred do his pretty bad Homer impression for Dan

I don't even know what Tan Mom is to be honest I haven't listened in that long. I assume that's a whack pack type thing? Different ball of wax.

You act like I'm arguing for their philosophy, I'm merely relaying it.

Agreed, but since when does "evolved" Howie have interest in funny?

You were talking staff and talent, though. Groening hasn't written jack shit since Colonel Homer in like '91, he just cashes checks like Simon did.
uh, I know, and I was just pointing out Howard has no interest in most of those fans anyway.

The best was the episode where Mr.Burns is a guest on the obvious Stern parody show "Jerry Rude and the Bathroom Bunch".
