Like his last day on terrestrial radio. It was one of the funnest days of my life. The rain sucked and the street got crowded, early real quickly, but the vibe was awesome. I remember hooting and hollering with the rest of the Stern fan maniacs!

We weren't lucky enough to get tickets to the Hard Rock after party, but we walked to the party regardless. I'm glad we did that. It was awesome just hanging outside. We fucked with the few Opie and Anthony fans that thought they were busting balls. They were pussies.

It was great seeing all the Wack Packers walking into the Hard Rock. I remember seeing Wendy, Yucko, Sal, Richard, Daniel Carver- Screaming wake up white people in the middle of Times Square is awesome! Double A and Melrose Larry were cool too.

Eventually we snuck in the Hard Rock, at this time the show was ending. We saw Ronnie the Mund and we started singing- "Uptown Jew. Ronnie bought a limo and it's way to huge." He didn't say anything and kept walking. We got escorted out after that.

Fred and Artie came out after the show. We started chanting "F Jackie" and Fred started chanting it too.
Artie said during his speech earlier that he'd give $50 to anybody that would give him a Vicodin. My friend had one on him. When we saw Artie later, as he exited the Hard Rock surrounded by cops, I shook his hand and slipped him a Vicodin. He laughed and didn't take it, but I twisted his arm and he put it in his pocket...
After standing outside all day, we went across the street for some booze at the ESPN Zone. To my surprise the party moved there.

-I drank beers with Benjy. He was annoying. He kept doing "the claw."

-I bought beers for Cliff Palate all night. Everytime he said "Fiyah" I bought him a beer.

-JD was there with the fat girl that broke his cherry. He was all weird - no surprise.

-Angry Black was hanging with Tabitha Stevens all night. He was up her ass. He was cool though.

-Joey Boots was cool too. I had a couple Bud Lights with him

-Will Murray and his drunk Philly friends were assholes.

-Hook Nose Mike and I hit it off. I liked him

-Bong Hit Eric was nice too.

-Sal, Richard, and Ralph were doing a show inside a clear glass booth at the ESPN Zone. My friend and I were standing next to it. We got Richards attention and my friend was showing him a trick he calls "turtle." He puts coins on his dickhead and inverts it inside his cock. Eventually the coins and his dickhead pops out like a turtle head. It's hilarious. But Richard was acting all grossed out by it. He was acting totally opposite to the way he acts in the studio.

Anyway- I had an awesome time that day,and I will never forget it. The sad thing for me is I took pictures on a shitty camera phone. I have no photo memories from that day. If any of you have photos from that day, please share them. I would love to see it.

No really it was interesting to read observations first hand of how they act in public. Richard was the most surprising to me.

Back in 1999, my wife and I were dating and I woke up in a hotel and turned on the radio just in time to hear Cabbie say "Yes, I've had anal sex with a guy" and everything that came after that. Think the Gary tape and the first Jesus Twins appearance was roughly the same time. Funny shit. Good times. Too bad that show no longer exists in any recognizable form.

Imagine what the old Howard would have said about a guy the acts like this evolved one? I truly miss the gang and bits from the old show. I believe Benji tries his best to be the next Jackie and or Artie, but he just doesn't have that kind of talent. For me it use to be just the random caller, calling in bitching about something or telling a story. Wether it be a black guy calling him racist or some lonely pro Mom, it was great radio..... The problem is that now any caller other then a "wackpacker" would probably be right.

    He'd be fucking thrilled.

I love how everyone thinks that simply because Howard railed against all things and all persons Hollywood-related, that his current lifestyle would be something at which Howard would look in disgust, but people who listened to Howard back then also knew that he desperately wanted success, fame and wealth.

A lot of his anger stemmed from what he felt to be, not ever getting the recognition ($$$) he felt he deserved; meaning, a lot of his anger came from frustration and in some part, a little (or a lot, depending on the day), bitterness.

Guys, I've said this before and I'll say it again. The key to Howard's success isn't necessarily the outrageous comments and stunts that went on during his show. It stemmed from his belief that if he acted upon a stream of consciousness, one where when a thought occurred to him, he would simply articulate it, accepting that whatever current thought he blurted out, almost always triggered a reaction from someone, good or bad. And then, he'd use hyperbole to flesh out the thought -- take the thought to the extreme and see where it goes.

Naturally, as a person's life changes, those thoughts and his reactions to those thoughts will change, but the formula remains the same: have a thought, express it, defend it, reclarify it or exaggerate it to its most ridiculous end.

Just because those who heavily criticize him HATE the shit that's floating around in his head and out of his mouth, doesn't necessarily mean that "old Howard" would disapprove of "new Howard."

    There, have at it. :)

i was at work a block away and couldn't get over there until the speeches were almost over. on my walk over i walked right by elegant elliot, who of course had pantyhose and makeup on. i was going to say something but i thought the better of it, especially considering he has a criminal record and punched a hole in a wall at sirius.

i got a sticker with a fist on it from some guy passing them out. i saw a guy selling fist tshirts for $5, should have bought one, they were pretty cool.
