Sirius let Howard announce this morning that they had achieved the 30 million subscriber mark last quarter. So much for Pandora and Spotify taking over.

I was thinking about this. Neither of my parents (divorced) would have a subscription if they didn't have a free sub from their cars...so in my family, 2 of 3 wouldn't buy a Sirius subscription (in the only stupid one). In fact, my mom got rid of her original Sirius pay sub a long, long time ago.

The only radio I still have is in my car. When they turn it on for the 2 week trials, I never even bothered tuning in. Sirius shit the bed a long time ago. I gave those parasites enough of my cash with their bullshit "refurbished" stilettos. Disgusting company all around. Fuck em.

According to this site though, Spotify has around 30 million subscribers also. So they're at least running neck and neck and Spotify has only been around 8 years compared to Sirius's 25.

My wife has it but we just have the base sub.. she likes the music channels and kids like Radio Disney.

It was free for a year and now its like 4 bucks a month.

Wigged faggot has nothing to do with my sub.

The markets are saying "who gives a f"? Trading at $3.85 and PE of 42, which is basically near the price point it has averaged for years now. Seriously: look at where it was trading in 2000-2001 and again since 2007. The Stern bump was as long lasting as his multiple channels of revolutionary content and real hair.

The problem is that SIRIUS is buying its own revenue stream by discounting and subsidizing what it costs to deliver the product. SIRIUS is an IP / patent / logistics firm masquerading as a content producer.

PE of 42 is very good for a semi- mature company. Its also trading for about 16x EBITDA.

This. These are subscriptions that come pre-loaded into new cars. It has nothing to do with Howard. And if this was such a premium service, you'd think they'd attract a better class of advertiser, right? Nope, still bottom of the barrel money lenders and Squatty Potty.

So that 30mil means PAID subscribers right? Not just 3mo free activation with your new SiriumXM equipped vehicle etc??

Sure, they're "paid" as part of your new car purchase.

Until you see a real IPO filing I wouldn't believe it. The are burning through money fast. Their business model cant be that great if at 30 million paying subs you are still losing money.

It's says that self-pay is at 24.6m which is when the actual consumer pays for the service.

How many of these 30 million subscribers are paying customers. Here is a chart that will explain why Sirius is booming on subscribers:

I just leased a new BMW this weekend. So after over a year without a Sirius subscription, I will be a Sirius subscriber for the next year. When my free subscription expires, I will not be purchasing one. I am sure a large portion of the 30 million subscribers are in the same boat.

You posted that there are 1.5 million total auto sales in 2015.
How is that a "large portion of 30 million"?
Also not every car comes with SXM prepaid
So at best your "large portion of 30 million" is about 3%
