If you managed to stay awake during the mind-numbing "Box of Rocks" segment there was some interesting info at the end. When Steven Singer came in to present the prizes he mentioned that he's always been a loyal sponsor of the show but in the early days at Sirius he wasn't allowed to buy ads. According to him, Mel, Tim, and Sam Benrubi turned him down because they only wanted ads from major national corporations (like auto manufacturers). It appears that Howard isn't the only delusional person in the bunch - what national corporations did they think wanted to be associated with that scumbag? Wonder how long it took (and how much income they lost from rejecting and alienating legitimate advertisers) before they settled for sex toys and websites that border on prostitution.

At one point, they told Singer they may not want ads at all. So much for that option.

Howard never says a word about the excessive ads and live reads on satelite the way he did at WXRK. The main reason for this is that he probably increases the ads himself every time he doesn't get his way. No third "premium" channel with Howard getting the revenue - more ads, no bonus for the XM listeners that can't hear his show - more ads, losing the lawsuit - more ads, budget cuts - more ads.........

Makes you wonder who the people were that bought Howard's stock when he decided to unload (at the first possible moment his contract allowed!):D

That's great - I wonder how much the ad rates dropped once Sirius realized Howard would be pitching pennystockchaser.com instead of big name companies.

It's always been Howard's Achille's heel and why networks never took him seriously for late night. Remember the E! show, it did the best numbers on the channel and all they could attract were endless, pathetic "Girls Gone Wild" 1-800 ads.

Stern on a show from Oct 2005 mentioned getting as much a $30,000 for a live read.
(said during his daily KROCK subscription drive for Sirius bonuses)

I'm shocked that Sirius hasn't shitcanned Howard yet, other than they know they'll be on the hook paying him, so why not just let him ride out his contract.

He delivered an initial influx of subscribers, based on the lies of a revolution and promises of all the fantastic programming he would provide, now that the FCC couldn't touch him. He's done zero since, except take more time off and piss on the fans who built fucking Chimneyville.

    Didn't deliver a revolution.
Didn't deliver more than the original influx of subs. Most of whom have bailed.
    Didn't deliver big time advertizers.

    Didn't do shit.

Wasn't the third channel supposed to be a phone sex channel? Similar to the Hedi Cortez show?

This. even at the height of his power, the wigs sponsors were third rate. he had a fair number of hardcore fans but even that number was a fraction of he would need to attract the big boys...

I just assumed "Freshballs" and "Freshbooks" were part of the same multi-national conglomerate.
