How long 'til SIRIUS stockholders pull the plug on a shitty company that cannot move the needle on its stock? Any bets on when the company gets pulled apart with the IT being sold to UPS, FedEx or United Technologies???

Put another way: Private Parts arrived just in time for Howard's marriage to fall apart. Howard begins his secrete negotiations to join SIRIUS-XM right before it begins a precipitous decline in value.

CNBC just had a short bit this morning on SIRIUS being in the top five worst tech bets of the past decade: down 94% since its height. Guess the Stern magic didn't take. That, and the fact that the business model makes NO SENSE in a world of cloud-based, multi-platform, multi-media tech.

Here is an older article on the same subject, though the end result is the same:

"So, what’s been the biggest tech-stock disaster? Really, nothing comes near Sirius XM. Perhaps you can’t remember back this far, but this company that beams radio transmissions using satellite was supposed to reinvent everything. Oops. Then came smartphones and low-cost radio streaming services like Pandora (P), Microsoft’s (MSFT) Xbox Music and Spotify. Investors’ ears are still ringing if they bet on Sirius, as the shares are down 94%. Ouch!"

Howard's decision to retire may have already been made for him.

Glad I sold my stock last year. Broke even. Can't imagine buying it back in 2005 paying 10 plus per share and then watching it drop to a nickel. Ouch.

Now if I'd bought at a nickel I'd be happy.

They are still e mailing me a few times a week with offers to come back at between 60 and 75% off.
    I would never go back.
They made it so hard to cancel. It was obvious that they were trying to get you so frustrated that you would give up and stay. Stupid plan.
I did complain about how lazy The Wig was on my way out which was fun.

I rented a car recently and it had XM, was kinda fucking awesome for long trips when the cell service sucks for streaming from your phone.

Only bullshit is the fucking shitty sound quality, its like a super low bit rate.

I happily threw my radio away in July after I cancelled my sub. Haven't missed it. These Howard nut huggers don't even realize his full shows are on youtube by the end of the day. Just like other various SXM programs. :jj:

The only person who made out at Sirius was Howard. They paid him a boatload of money and in the end they wont be around anyway.

Noone else made money there. The interns were unpaid slaves. Any quality radio shows had little to nothing for a budget. Once Howard leaves they'll be under water in debt. It's appalling that they never even negotiated with him. I'm confident he would have taken less than what he signed on for. He took less in his next contract. It wasn't so much the money that it was more of him wanting an easier job and more time off.

There's just too much free and lower cost content available now. SiriusXM is becoming more of a niche market all the time -- people who drive long distances and don't download much/any music or podcasts.

I seriously doubt the operating costs of satellite operations will allow a niche service to be profitable in the long term.
