Yeah, and it really pisses me off. I am in heavy traffic and am waiting for the traffic report and I have to wait for some stupid add. F Sirius.
I remember the Raw Dog comedy channel having commercials...even when they were playing comedy clips for 2-3 hours.
Satellite radio has become a paid service with commercials. I save 15$/month and I get the same crap for free.
The only reason why I keep sirius is I love the cinemagic channel, it's great to listen to movie music on my headphones while at work. It's relaxing.
That and Boneyard.
I quit Sirius because of the commercials.
And then had a hell of a time trying to quit. They hung up on me, moved me around to different departments. When I started taking times and names, they sent me to collections. I had to call collections and site the names and whatnot and told them Sirius refused to let me go.
Shadiest f*cking company in the world.
And they still mail me stuff asking me to come back.
Viva la revolucion.
If there is ever a problem with cinemax skipping or whatever, there is a free legal alternative you can use temporarily if you want.
Subscription based commercial free radio...
More and more we are seeing this service change from an HBO model to a more commercial-filled one. Which would be great if they were paying me to listen. But they aren't, and this likely will be their eventual death knell.
"Just a few commercials, Robin. Not too many, just a few."
Already cancelled home subscription....strongly thinking of cancelling in my car.
greedy lazy serial liar
makes you wonder if Stern was getting a taste of advertising marbles toward the end of his FM days.
I am going to attempt to listen to some 2005 stern shows looking for Howard selling Sirius subscriptions using the 'commercial free' proclamation.
I'll tell you what, Chris "Maddog" Russo gives you a hell of a lot of talk and fairly limited commercials. Though for the most part I listen to the onDemand replay which edits out the commercials.
In the beginning, cable TV was devoid of commercials. This is the same thing everyone though would happen when cable TV started playing commercials. Look at that industry now.
A handful of people including Howard pocketed all the money. They all appear to know just when to sell their Sirius stock too.
After Howard signed with Sirius he spent a few months talking about a commercial free revolution all along knowing that it was a lie.
I agree, but the writing is on the wall for sirius. Once it becomes more affordable to implant mobile hotspots into your car, Sirius is dead. I just rented a Jetta with this function and got the whole Internet on the dash plus it lit up all my handhelds. Why would I pay for satellite radio? Rs like having a smartphone and opting to pay extra to a rental company for a gps.
If Sirius was smart, they'd abandon their content business and just sell the bandwidth for Internet service. That's why I increase my position in iwdm every month. You can get 100,000 shares for $1000. Plus, once the price goes from $0.01 to $0.02 I double my cash. Been making tons by cyclin this stock and it has nn
pthong but upside potential.
