'X-Files' revival reunites The Lone Gunmen
White-hat hackers, countercultural conspiracy nuts, government watchdogs. Whatever you want to call them, The Lone Gunmen are returning to the new "X-Files" series. We can't wait to hear what new theories they've come up with!

When it comes to "The X-Files," never expect beloved characters to stay dead, especially when it comes to our favorite conspiracy theorists The Lone Gunmen.

Characters Richard "Ringo" Langly, Melvin Frohike and John Fitzgerald Byers -- otherwise known as The Lone Gunmen -- will be showing up in "The X-Files" revival.

Actor Dean Haglund (Langly) tweetedWednesday that he will indeed be returning along with his "X-Files" co-stars Bruce Harwood (Byers) and Tom Braidwood (Frohike) for an episode of Fox's "X-Files" mini-series.

The trio appeared not only in numerous episodes of "The X-Files" helping out FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, but also had quite a few adventures in their short-lived spin-off series, "The Lone Gunmen." All three characters supposedly died in "The X-Files" episode "Jump the Shark."

However, thanks to "The X-Files: Season 10" comic book series published by IDW in 2013, agent Mulder discovers that The Lone Gunmen's deaths were faked so they could continue their operations without worry of interference.

News of The Lone Gunmen returning only makes us "X-Files" fans more thrilled at the idea of the original roster of the series' actors returning to action.

In addition to The Lone Gunmen actors, other main cast members from the original series are returning including Gillian Anderson as Scully, David Duchovny as Mulder, William B. Davis as the Smoking Man, Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner, and Annabeth Gish as special agent Monica Reyes.

While the original TV series made its debut in September 1993 on Fox and aired for nine seasons, fans this time around will be treated to just six episodes in the upcoming "X-Files" mini-series airing on Fox on January 24, 2016.

Until then, be sure to binge-watch "The X-Files"to see The Lone Gunmen doing what they do best -- making us second guess every action of the US government.
