it seems like he was antagonizing the animal to me and this wasn't necessary.

what surprises me the most is that a handgun can take down a moose so easily. I clearly know nothing about guns.

    fuck this guy

You best be armed if you run across a moose looking for trouble.

I saw the aftermath of a pickup truck/moose accident. It looked like the truck had hit a brick wall and the moose was still twitching around on the ground. The moose in the video is a bit smaller but it still went down pretty easily. I thought you'd need a rifle.

Yeah it does seem like he was attracting more attention than he needed to. Although, as soon as the moose made contact. I cant blame him for shooting as it turned to possibly charge him again.. Also, I agree with the 1 comment that vid has. He should have finished it off.. But that's what I would have done..

Surprised that G-lock put it down. Pretty interesting, always thought you needed a .357 on up to deal with 'em.

Also: I thought when you put down wild life (elk, caribou, moose, etc.) you had to take the carcass with you.

In Alaska you have to take all of the parts of a moose that are edible and salvageable. Leaving behind anything useable is a felony and a sentence of 1 year in jail plus steep fines.

Was that a 10mm? Besides being an asshole, that guy is either a really good shot or he got pretty lucky.

In rural America, be surprised if someone doesn't try to fuck it...He's practicing his 2nd Amendment right. [IMG]

Big man to kill a baby moose. Who snowmobiles with a hand gun ? and if you have a gun why not fire a shot into the air instead of yipping and clapping your hands. Fucking douche.

The first shot was a warning over the moose's head. Moose didn't flinch.

The whole thing was unnecessary. If he hadn't kept riding up on it it would have just walked away.

I watch quite a few of those Alaska shows on Discovery, NatGeo, and others. Based on what I seen and heard on those shows, it's mandatory to carry a gun in the wilderness. It's standard procedure to stop and make yourself big and announce yourself, bears and moose "usually" retreat into the woods. It's not uncommon for young moose to stand their ground because they are at that age that they want to pick fights with anything, and they often use roads, trails and R/R tracks to get around because it's convenient. On that Alaska Rail Road show, a guy must drive a truck on the tracks ahead of the train to clear the area because the stupid moose love the tracks and they will try to fight the train if it comes at them. So the guy didn't do anything out of the ordinary, and we really don't know if he went back to get the meat or alert someone around there to do it?? Being cold, the moose could lay there for a while without the meat spoiling.
