...or was it just a tragic mistake?

Seems the only evidence the police have against him is that he researched the issue of children dying in cars due to heat. He volunteered the info, as did the mother. Isn't it reasonable for a parent to research potential hazards to their kids? Does it mean they intend to cause injury with these hazards?

the father could be Lefty in real life, in which case a morbid interest in such topics is normal and just indicative of his warped personality.

Lefty is far more likely to eat the mother than the child.

My opinion has not much to do with what he looked up, and more to do with how do you forget not only to drop your kid off at daycare, but pick him up...

I would think the daycare center would call the parents "hey where's the kid?"

possibly the same mentality that believes lashing the family dog into a carrier on the top of your car and then driving for hours at >60MPH will not be harmful to the dog.

I'd assume they get paid whether the kid is there or not and would just assume the kid was sick or something

i agree with ML though: they would have called eventually because the kid is contracted to be in their care. if they can't account for him they have to assume they lost him and then they are responsible.

i dunno: there's something about researching how to cook your kid that transcends appearances.
