went to Hawaii on business this week and watched Birdman and I gotta say I liked it
Ed Norton was really good and I thougth Michael Keaton was really good. It reminded me a lot of Glengary Glenross, just a good conversation movie that your really have to pay attention to

Not for everyone but I liked it

Watched Ex Machina on the way home and it was predictable and boring. You knew where it was going 20 seconds into it. I don't know why people raved about that one and I really wanted to like it

I agree about Ex Machina. I was completely bored by it.

Birdman was OK, but the "single camera shot" through the entire film was distracting as hell and bugged the shit out of me.

GG is one of my favorite films ever and was about a millions times better and something I have watched many times. I would probably never sit through Bidman again.

I agree the movie had it's shortcomings I was disappointed with the very very ending but overall I liked the characters and the dialog. It kept me interested and Keaton just nailed it

The problem with Machina is they try to get you looking one way towards a villain but you know that's not the case from the moment the movie starts. If you've ever seen more than 10 movies you knew where this was going. I don't get why people raved about it, I think it was a paid promotional bit to get people like Howard to say how great it was. I will say style and shot cinematography wise it was great and I don't even like that genre of style. That was good, the characters and story; predictable. Get Blade Runner same story 100 times better watch it again if needed.

I haven't seen it but it seemed odd how Howard was constantly bashing the film. He was going out of his way to bring it up at random times citing how bad it was. Was one of Beth's old boyfriends in it forcing Stern to go on a public crusade like he does with Amanda Peet?

Ex Machina was great. I think seeing it in the theater, vs a plane, added to feel of the movie.

I thought Birdman was great too.

Gunkard was so critical of it because it hit to close to home.

A movie about a washed up once famous star who is struggling to retain his relevance.

Saving it to watch with my wife when she gets in the mood to see a movie. We usually just watch the old film noir and Eddie Cantor shit I buy on dvd.
Downloaded Birdman 6 months ago being the cheap bastard I am towards contemporary fare.

True. The house was amazing. I also adore the apartment in A Perfect Murder.

I think the raves were from people who haven't seen blade runner. I liked it, but i thought the kid was a douche bag and i was glad when he got screwed by the lady robot.
