If you're unaware, Artie's new stand-up special debuts on Comedy Central this Saturday at Midnight, BUT it is available to purchase, download and/or stream today for $5 via Comedy Central Direct's website.

Unfortunately, it's not very good. Nearly every bit is something you've likely heard before. Here's a quick rundown of what's what:

    - Running vs. Heroin
    - Bet twice your net worth on a game you don't care about to make football exciting
    - GPS with Mike Tyson's voice
    - Stern Show story about 50 Cent buying Tyson's old house
    - ExtenZe/Jimmy Johnson bit
    - Nick & Artie studio murals bit
    - Black cock transplant bit
    - Went to a Klan meeting in Indiana
    - Mental institution vs. LA County
    - Crackhead Scrabble game bit
    - "Meth is a great drug if you wanna walk to St. Louis one weekend."
    - "Jew broad, fights Draculas.."
    - Jay-Z/Alicia Keys song bit
    - "If you give a hooker money for coke.."

There are a handful of new(er) jokes here & there, but the worst part about the whole thing is it isn't that funny.

I've heard all these bits a few times on several different talk show appearances and podcasts, and I assume the audience has too. The crowd seems to be devoted fans, but their reaction is poor. More applause breaks than real laughs throughout, and the applause is light and smattering at that.

So, yeah.. a letdown. If you want to support Artie, by all means do so. It's only $5.. but so was Dave Attell's latest special, and it's fucking hysterical.

Did you actually expect it to be any different?

Loved Artie on the show, but this set looks pretty lame and repetitive from the Stern days. This is the best he could come up with in 5 years? And where's the bit about making the hooker clap her hands while he goes and takes a piss?

I was a huge Artie fan on the Howard Stern show but I never cared about his stand up or watched his dtv show. Weird.

Does he still have that wheezy laugh?

It's sad that heroin is his entire identity. He can't go a few sentences without bringing it up.

While I can't say I am surprised that it isn't funny, I am surprised he continues to use the same material over and over

    Artie's stand-up was never funny.
His strongest trait was chiming in & storytelling. Once you hear a story from him it is over.
Other comedians create new material every year. Artie (from this review) notsomuch

Artie is horrible doing standup. The chemistry on the show was completely different. Barrels of laughter with Pelican. Just hearing the pelican laugh was great.

I couldn't make it through "It's The Whiskey Talking" and never understood Artie's continued standup popularity beyond the show's fun, party atmosphere (although he probably sounded like George Carlin after following the Hack Pack).
That said, he was great on the show and the Jackie/Artie counter-presence to HS is sorely missed. His fights with Sal, HPE, Gary, etc. were usually home runs, and he helped minimize the Hollywood talk (which exploded after he left).

I kind of enjoyed his first one Jack and Coke I think it was called, Its the Whiskey Talking was basically every joke or story he told on Stern, so if you were a casual listener, you heard them all and that was just unlistenable....i havent seen this one yet..but doesnt sound too promising....although I have to admit the show was 100% better with him on it
