I think someone at MapQuest is playing games: all the way up to the Geo Wash bridge just to get to the FDR? Maybe Aldi owns the only gas station in Harlem?

cross town from up here is easy. cross town from midtown sucks. Everyone seems to want to cross at 66th st which is always a mistake even when the park entrance is open. Whole Foods is on 98th so i have to go up to 110th and come down. most times when i go it is a very fast ride because everyone is going downtown rather than across the top of the park. the only times it sucks is when there is a weekend street fair.

the mayor has been killing traffic here. 4 lane streets are now two lane wit two bike lanes. when i get out of a car now i have to get out into traffic because the car cannot pull up next to the curb since the bike lanes are there now.

The cashiers sit on chairs when they ring you up and all the produce is in plastic wrap.

Don't forget the deposit for the cart and they charge for bags.

I've gone a few times. They have some decent stuff.

    Froggy,

I'm not sure how you would fit in at Aldi's. Maybe it's different in NY, but Aldi's in the MW are pretty much in the hood.

Same in NY. The only ones I know of are in East Harlem, East New York and the South Bronx.

I love Aldi, 99 cent pineapple--there seasonal items are the best, but you have to get there on Sunday at opening time, very limited quantities

that part of Harlem is not so bad. Madison and 115-ish is not a bad place, not for the past 15 years or so. its still spanish harlem but its not bad in the daytime. i'm not going into morningside park any time of the day though: i'm nuts, not stupid. after sundown it gets a bit weird, but daytime is ok. its still got more gentrification to go.
