    The rear of my home is full south facing (does a number on my roof) I was having a conversation with some friends and the topic of solar power came up, my place is set up perfectly, no one I know has ever investigated it. Anyone here have?

    As long as you don't expect to actually save money, it's fine. Your return is usually a long ways away. But it's not always about saving money.

    It's usually the initial investment that costs so much. I don't know if it's a state of fed law but around here the utilities are required to pay you for your excess production if you have any. I kind of doubt that you will have any excess with solar panels on your roof though. You can do hot water and heat your home in addition to electricity. The hot water deal is a lot cheaper.

    Not true. Tax breaks can get you pure profit after 5 years depending on your situation.
