Rapist punched, choked woman, 82, made her swear on Bible she wouldn't call cops in 4-hour Brooklyn assault: kin BY Molly Crane-newman , Larry Mcshane NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Published: Wednesday, July 15, 2015, 2:14 PM Updated: Wednesday, July 15, 2015, 3:10 PM A A A 1K 88 114 Share this URL Man raped 83-year-old held hostage for hours NY Daily News An elderly Brooklyn woman was forced by her brutal rapist to swear on a Bible that she would not call police — or else he would kill her, the victim’s family said Wednesday. A relative of the 82-year-old woman told the Daily News that the victim is bruised from head to toe after surviving the 4 1/2-hour ordeal at her Brighton Beach home. “She is not doing good,” the family member said Wednesday. “She has not slept since this happened, and is very traumatized.” The battered woman told the relative that suspect Asa Roberts, 18, forced her to swear on a Bible that she would not send the police after him. Accused rapist Asa Robert, 18, remained on the run Wednesday. “He took advantage of the fact that she was religious,” the relative told The News. “He made her swear on a Jewish Bible that she wouldn’t call the police, making fun of her.” The victim was so terrified that she called the family member instead of the cops once the attacker left around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. “She even asked me afterward if she had broken her pledge, and I said, ‘No, you didn’t call the police. I called the police,’” the relative said. “I felt bad.” The rap sheet of suspect Roberts included a 2006 arrest for a criminal sexual act — one day before his 10th birthday, against a victim under the age of 11, sources said. Police were also looking for him in connection with an assault on an NYPD transit cop, and he was wanted on a bench warrant for a robbery arrest, sources said. A fingerprint lifted from the victim’s bedroom dresser was matched to the left middle finger of Roberts, cops said. The senior citizen’s relative echoed police in saying that the victim went out of her way to treat the suspect politely, asking about the teen’s family and at one point asking if she could make Roberts a meal. There was no reason to do what he did to her.” Roberts remained on the run more than a day after the Tuesday morning sexual assault. He was captured on video both arriving and leaving from the victim’s brick home. After slipping inside through an unlocked door, the attacker hid in the victim’s darkened bedroom before the assault began. The victim was punched, slammed into a wall, choked and sexually assaulted before her attacker finally left her alone — departing with a bag of her dead husband’s shirts and a stolen umbrella. “He walked out of the house dangling an umbrella like nothing happened, and he had just raped her five minutes earlier,” the family member said.
