This song kills me dead. It's pure pop-soul perfection. Rat On, Swamp Dogg! Total Destruction To Your Mind:
A song about an affair with Brigitte Bardot by Serge Gainsbourg whom I'm completely in awe of: This 2nd one is more complete but it's sans Serge:
The ultimate version of the same song although Harper's Bizarre and Jackie DeShannon also did fine versions:
I've heard that "The Archies" in reality included former Brill Builiding songwriters Andy Kim (a Canadian) and Toni Wine although most reference books list Ron Dante of The Cuff-Links as lead singer. Other singers behind the cartoon phenom included: Brill Building wunderkind Jeff Barry, Susan Morse, Joey Levine, Maeretha Stewart (who backed people as diverse as Bob Dylan and Don Imus), Bobby Bloom and Leslie Miller. The amazing Joey Levine was the lead vocalist for various Kasenatz-Katz projects like "Run Run Run" (The Third Rail), "Quick Joey Small" (Kasenetz-Katz Singing Orchestral Circus), "Chew Chewy" (The Ohio Express ) and many others. Bobby Bloom had a number of shitty top 40 records in the 70s but his biggest hit probably was "Montego Bay". Who gives a shit -this stuff still sucks:
I can find no copy of this anywhere. It makes me laugh. A lot. It's a download, but you'll laugh. A lot. I can't find a place to stream MP3's. Anyone know of one? http://www.wikiupload.com/PZ41Fxlr
I don't. I have to use sendspace to upload music which works like wikiupload. I have much love for Pinkard and Bowden. Haven't thought of them in years, man. Thanks for the upload.
I think they have the only album I've ever bought online. ♫If James Dean was really such a superstar, (he shoulda swerved!) you'd think he would have taught himself to drive a car. (he shoulda swerved)♫ Pinkard and Bowden. Live in Front of a Bunch of Dickheads. Makes me laugh. A LOT!
