I tried to watch Gary's show yesterday. Couldn't get past a few seconds. Maybe he did mention this aspect of Sonos, I don't know.

I have Sonos and it until recently it was nightmare if you weren't an APPLE person. They updated their software and it has been a pleasure to add music from my own library since then. Shortly after that my Sirius subscription ran out. So I looked elsewhere for my online music. I found that you could add your OWN internet radio stations to play on Sonos. Just sayin'... in case anyone didn't know that...;)

it has other interesting features: if your internet connection drops for a second it does not resume automatically.
it rivals airplay in cost of components
you get the best sound quality using their bridge and your own speakers. that said i have 2 play 3 and 2 play5: i learned the expensive way.

When you say your own speakers you mean their own wireless speakers? I'm asking because I have my father's old (but very good) speakers which he left to me. I would like to use them but I don't know how with all the digital shit I have now. I listen to my sonos all over the place - living room, bedroom, outside on the porch.

I use Logitech Squeezebox. They have excellent control apps for both Apple and Android and you can also control things through a web-based interface. It's a lot cheaper, too.

they have a box (Zoneplayer 120) that acts as a wireless receiver and amplifier. you just connect your own speakers to it. http://www.amazon.com/Sonos-CONNECT...?ie=UTF8&qid=1348672580&sr=8-8&keywords=sonos

thing i don't like about it is the cost. $500 seems a lot to pay for something without speakers unless you have a really good set of studio speakers to use.

It is a lot. On Ebay there's a couple under $400. I think the BF gave me the sonos for my birthday last year. It's coming around next month so.....
