Howard doesn't have that many houses. Why can't they just get their own beach houses?

True story from my fucked up life:

In the year 1994, when microwave ovens actually were expensive, I bought my sister a $125 microwave. She was in college.

Someone broke into her apartment and stole the microwave. My mother, being the insane person she is, told me that I was obligated to purchase another microwave for my sister since once you bought someone a gift, you owed them that gift in perpetuity.

After a look in the storage space at my mother's house, it turned out my mother owned one, two, ....THREE boxed NEW microwaves in storage, unused !!!!

I asked her why she couldn't just give one of the unused microwaves to her daughter in college. She answered, "Because I might need them some day."

The last time I was there for Christmas, she bought a dozen eggs, a pound of bacon and a loaf of bread to feed 12 people (your typical $5.00 holiday meal budget). I went ballistic as I went hungry so the kids could eat when I offered to cater breakfast for $200 and she refused.
