Sony Hackers Used Widely Available Malware, Cybersecurity Experts Say
The hackers “knew more about the company, Sony, and its vulnerabilities than they knew, or needed to know, about hacking,” one said.

TEL AVIV — The malware that allowed hackers to break into and steal untold amounts of emails and data from Sony Pictures could have been carried out by almost anyone with financial backing to buy the right malware, cybersecurity experts said Thursday.

Hackers carried out the attack using malware that was a “cut and paste” job, said Nimrod Kozlovski, a partner in JVP Labs, one of Israel’s leading venture capital firms with a focus on cybersecurity.......................................

So basically North Korean script kiddies....

I saw on the news today that Sony's CIO made a statement a few years ago that it would be cheaper to accept the hacking risk than to spend money to protect against it. I wonder if they're rethinking that strategy now...at least the new CIO will because if the old one didn't resign he'll be fired for sure.

Sad but true. I wouldn't be surprised if someone with admin rights gave out the root password to something important.

One thing Howard did again reveal is that he runs his empire like the mob. He says nothing that can be recorded. He probably uses hand signals like Benjy and his beard.
I will bet my left nut only a few people have a NDA...and those are the people that he gives direct orders to using the cone of silence.......:jj:

The privileged of the North Korean Capital.. I'm still betting Russian or Chinese hackers were contracted out by North Korea.

Actually, what probably has Howard so upset is that he fears his emails could be hacked.

I'm sure he put am order in to all his contacts to delete everything.

If the hackers weren't the North Koreans, they're going to feel real silly when they cause a nuclear war.

biggest key to hacking is "social engineering" aka lying and manipulating people to get info and access.

I love how the media is seemingly attempting to turn this into "no big deal" by describing the malware and hackers as primitive and simple. They fucked Sony up and they could probably hit any corporate target they wanted.

It's not quite as primitive as they want to portray.
