After a week of outreach and negotiations, Sony Pictures found two companies willing to release “The Interview” amid unprecedented threats of hacking and violence: Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp.

The two tech giants on Wednesday began offering the Seth Rogen comedy at the center of a North Korea-linked cyberterrorism attack to rent or buy from their online video stores. The Sony Corp. studio also set up a new website, seetheinterview.com, to offer the movie directly.

The Alamo Drafthouse theater chain will show The Interview starting on Christmas Day.

A buddy flick about killing North Korean dictator Kim Jung Un will be shown on Christmas Day after all, at least in about 200 independent theaters. This kind of small-scale distribution model and the politics surrounding The Interview give what was once a big-budget Hollywood release the spirit of an art house film.

Satirizing Dictators Is Nothing New — Just Ask Charlie Chaplin

In the satirical film, which is at the center of a geopolitical tussle, Seth Rogen and James Franco play television producers who get an interview with Kim but are then hired by the CIA to "take him out."

The reaction to this film from one of the most cutoff countries on Earth — and from its leader — came quickly. North Korea went to the United Nations trying to get the film banned. In November came a hack of Sony Pictures, the studio behind the film, that the FBI links to North Koreans.

Subsequent threats invoking Sept. 11 led major theater chains to say they wouldn't show it. But when Sony pulled the film from release last week, President Obama joined

Just saw it off Google Play
I thought it was excellent and funny but I watched This Is End last night and that's one of my all time favorites.

Yeah it really was funny and had some good design to it.
Everyone comes down on Franco's acting but he pulls it off because you know he's always making fun of himself too.
Its not just some thrown together Sandler movie, some clever couching of yeah old jokes but they make you laugh
    Never lagged

I always watched stuff on North Korea, and I generally think Seth is an ok actor and writer, but the previews of the parts involving Kim Jong Un looked lame. Rotten Tomatoes wasn't kind either.

I'll wait when it's free on Netflix.

Can someone help me, someone who is stupid with this tech stuff right now.
If I rent this on Youtube Movies, will I then be able to stream it through my Sony Blu Ray player and watch on my big screen, or am I stuck watching it on the desktop?

It's a solid film, props to Sony for not charging an exorbitant fee to see it online. Rogen and Franco's bro chemistry is very much real and reliably amusing.

The finger biting scene was hysterical to me.

The movie is not this generation's The Great Dictator but I doubt anyone expected it to. If you enjoyed Pineapple Express and This Is The End you'll probably like The Interview. It's better than most of the insipid shit Hollywood pulls out and I'll watch a dozen Rogen Bro Comedies over Judd Apatow's faggotry.

One of the funniest movie this year (It was not a really good year for the comedies). I really enjoyed it, like some said, slow start but then it's a pretty fun ride
