First with the awful sounding normally aspirated engines, questionable talent, and predominately boring & uninspired oval-racing...

And, now these ridiculous looking Special-Ed cars ....

Tickets to the Indianapolis 500 were once so popular they were practically handed down as family heirlooms ... Now, watch how many empty seats there will be tomorrow.

What a great study on how one man and his family wealth can implode an American institution :(

I stopped paying attention to Indy about the time the IRL was formed ( I think). Its a lot faster than Nascar and when an open wheel rolls over another open wheel its a way cooler wreck.
Im guessing Nascar is becoming more poular becuase its easier to relate to cars with engines that look like engines and americans who speak like americans

Qualifying was good today......a tad damp. Should be a great race but passing is tough there.

I bought some game with a steering wheel that actually jolts around when it his a wall or a bump and does a 360 when you spun out. The off road games were cool cuz when you got airborn it felt like you were airborn....but after a couple hours I was done with it and its been inna closet for like 12 years

I miss the glory days of Champ cars, where there were actual road courses mixed with the ovals. Favorite was Grand Prix of Cleveland which used airplane runways as a course and cars could race 5 or 6 abreast. Always some adventurous/foolhardy pass attempts taking place. F1 used to struggle, imo, with the lack of passing, but rule changes, especially DRS zones, have helped with that.

Amazing how the cars were going faster here in 1973 than the NASCAR cars go today ....

Yeah, those times were the best... 900 Horsepower engines.. Zanardi putting on a drivers-clinic every other race ...That's when Indycar (C.A.R.T) was it its best, for sure

I think you'll find the Effeminate music & middle-aged burnout discussion in another thread...

If you have trouble finding that one, try the Jheri-Curl Appreciation thread ... Those should keep you enthralled in between Bong hits
