The recent hack into Sony Pictures' servers revealed the studio's plans to collaborate with Marvel for a third sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man." Likewise, it also detailed the possibility of the superhero making an appearance in "Captain America: Civil War." These plans may seem uncertain, but according to a latest report, studio execs are already planning a meeting to discuss the sequel.

A source told Screengonzo that SonyPictures co-chairman Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige will meet in January to discuss the future of "The Amazing Spider-Man" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU. The said meeting will reportedly take place at Pinewood Studios, where "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Civil War" are believed to have been filming. No further details were provided, but sources said some "good news" will be revealed sometime in February. Likewise, Feige is said to be pleased with where his deal with Sony Pictures is headed.

How the superhero will be featured into the MCU remains uncertain. However, according to the source, one plan is for Spider-Man to make an appearance at the end-credits scene. According to Screengonzo, it would make sense if the character will be featured in "Captain America: Civil War," since the film is scheduled for filming sometime in February or March. It coincidentally links to the mentioned release of the good news in February.

WTF is "ScreenGonzo" and why trust their "scoop" when the actual leaked documents showed them nowhere near a deal?

If you catch ARROW and THE FLASH you may feel DC redeems themselves with a CW TV budget. I've been very impressed with how far they take those shows into the DC mythos so far.

It's amazing how they fuck up their cinematic ventures but get the TV stuff so right.

Great post @xavier! The Spidey-verse has been floundering in many forms of media for a while and I feel the character NEEDS to bounce off heroes like Cap or Iron Man now in order to kick him in the ass. Bout time these two companies made this happen, should be just a matter of getting egos in the same room and dangling green rectangles in front of them.

Some of the best moments in comics in Captain America leading by example to a fanboy Spider-man. And Cap giving him inspirational speeches teaching him how to be a hero.

I'm as tough a critic as they come with my DC anal fanboyism but this Greg Berlanti really is on the same page as what I would hope I'd wield. Doesn't hurt Geoff Johns is also lingering on both shows as a consultant and developer.

I agree. I watched either a directors commentary or listened to a podcast and the director Lexi Alexander is a very interesting FEMALE girl powery feisty (and hot) director that immersed herself into the Punisher's comics history. She qualifies every move they made in the film with comics inspiration. I couldn't believe how sharp she was with the whole process.
