Star Trek - Horizon is a feature-length fan film made by a single filmmaker as a personal passion project and love letter to Enterprise, the fifth Star Trek series. Pre-production began in December of 2012 and this 3-year-long odyssey concluded on February 25th, 2016. It's been a long road, getting from there to here.

The Coalition of Planets, a young alliance of worlds led by Earth, is at war with the Romulan Empire. Desperate for a chance to gain the upper hand in the war, the Coalition forms an alliance with T'mar, a Romulan deserter, in the hopes that she can provide valuable intelligence on her former masters.

looks good. JJ should take lessons on how to write a real Star Trek movie. This guy did it with no budget, actors willing to work for free, and he did all the production work himself.

I'm pleasantly surprised CBS and Paramount have not sued this guy too. The fans are producing better stories than the networks, and JJ Abrams should be ashamed when he sees things like this.

The franchise should be removed from CBS and Paramount for cheapening and decaying something that has become a global cultural icon.

I have been funding these fan produced ST stories on Kickstarter and similar sites for the past 3 years. The commercial movies rack in the bucks, but the series is kept alive by these fan productions which are all created by people who love the shows. Some of them have some of the original cast members performing. Serious actors and production people are making these things without pay.

CBS filed a lawsuit against one production last month, but so far they refuse or cannot identify which parts of the franchise have been infringed. Instead CBS has created a Facebook forum to spy on the fans. Its the same pettiness that Howard experienced from Moonves all over again.

its freely downloadable in HD. there must be so many copies on the net now that if CBS has it removed someone else will repost it each time.

Yeah, I've had it with Hollywood for a while. It seems everything is a remake (poorly made at that), and has women/blacks inserted in unnatural places to push a political agenda...not because they are the best choices for the art. I saw a fan-made Wheel of Time bit that was pretty cool too. It's cool that technology is making these possible for all these folks.

at least one person already complained that Horizon is too pale. The guy answered "when you are asking actors to perform for free its difficult to be selective". basically the white actors were willing to participate for the fun of doing it and improving their craft. the non-white performers were only interested in a payday.

DS9 Dominion War was even better than the TNG Borg stuff, since the Borg got nerfed pretty quickly.

The only one they seem to be suing so far is that Abraxis project that got kickstarted for a few million. I have to imagine with the new series fixing to launch they are going to start clamping down on these things.

What about the Voyager episode where those two crew members turned into salamanders?

so far, great story, and that original battle tactic...pretty damned cool. production value is way above normal for fan fiction. about 2/3 into it.

The owners have kind of a cool deal. People can make movies and TV shows about Star Trek as long as they are fan films, meaning, non-profit. There are a bunch of sites that have made episodes. My Favorite is star Trek ii/Star Trek New Voyages. http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/

Picard is the best of the bunch. He doesn't need to be overly aggressive because he's confident and capable. Janeway...give the chick a ship and the first thing she does is get lost. Sisko is good, but is unfortunately tied to the boring Bjoran crap which ruins the show.
