I've been building a substantial pile of money...physical cash that I keep at home...Along with some gold coins...right now I'm using a safe, but the new ones are crap. I lost a key to my last one and cut it in half in about 3 minutes with my sawzall....Looking for an old used safe, something so heavy it can't be carried out of my house...but they aren't cheap

Any cash hoarders here have any pro tips on the safest way to store cash at home? Considering fire/theft/accesability?

    serous thread

I wouldn't recommend stashing any large amount of money at your house. You're just asking for failure.

I'm sure i've done as much if not more trading than you over the years, fuck i was flipping CMGI in the 90s...lol...done fairly well...my own personal belief is that our present system is a house of cards...and when it falls the race to the exit will be fast and chaotic

Oh and paranoid? last fall after the hurricane you couldn;t find a bank that was open for 4 or 5 days around here...or get gas...amazing how fast things can break down...srs

Because any safe you have at your house can be easily removed, fire safes can still damage the contents. You're at a high risk losing it. If you're afraid to invest for god's sake at least put it in an FDIC account where it will be covered. The only way it would not be covered is if the fed went belly up and then the money you're hiding in mason jars would be worthless anyway.

Why do you need the bank open? All you need is a debit card and it's accepted just about anywhere.

Stew if it means that much to you, I say you break down and pay whatever it takes to get what you want.
