Saban Films has released the trailer for Cell, the latest cinematic Stephen King adaptation, which stars John Cusack as Clay Riddell, an everyman in the midst of a technological apocalypse. When a mysterious signal is broadcast across mobile networks, reprogramming the minds of ordinary people worldwide into mindless, bloodthirsty savages, Clay bands together with a group of fellow survivors, including Samuel L. Jackson and Isabel Fuhrman, to trek across the ravaged remains of New England in search of his son.

Directed by Paranormal Activity 2 helmer Tod Williams, the apocalyptic sci-fi horror is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. King adapted the screenplay alongside Adam Alleca, who previously penned the 2009 remake of Last House on the Left. Cell will arrive on VOD June 10th before arriving in theaters on July 8th. Watch the trailer below.

The book was a bit cheesy but still I liked it.

I'm sure the movie will be terrible and disappointing, but I'll watch it anyway.

isn't this the same movie as "kingsmen", but Samuel L was the villain?

    Looks like The Crazies.

Can't you just hold up somewhere and wait 2 or 3 weeks until all the infected starve to death?

Book was a fun read. The movie has a good cast, so hopefully it won't be a shit-show like most movies adapted from SK books.

    A truly truly terrible novel.

Enjoyed King as a kid. Won't read him any more after this one.

King really has trouble ending some of his novels. Starts strong, slog through the middle and then slaps a shitty ending on it like a Sanders sticker on a Porche

He was one of my favourite actors of the 90s, but holy shit has he made a TON of garbage the past 15 years.

Yeah, sucks he's not the draw he used to be. In recent years I thought he was awesome in the Raven and I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was a funny comedy, but yeah he's been pumping out mediocre stuff for checks. I hope he gets back to the good stuff. The guy rocks. This movie doesn't look that bad.

Loved the first chapter of the book. Kinda went downhill after that but finished it in 1 day.

Pluses about the movie: 1) It's rated R, 2) King co-wrote the screenplay.

Neg about the movie: 1) Too much like all the other "Zombie" movies, 2) Most of Kings movies aren't nearly good as the books.

I'm afraid of what they're going to do with the Dark Tower movie next year.

Liked the book, but like a few others i'm sure the movie will stink.

So is Sam Jackson supposed to be the little bald gay dude Clay travels with?

SLJ character was a geeky gay white guy in the book now he's some ex military bad ass black guy? I would think he would be a better fit for the raggedy man.

I'm still hoping that "The Long Walk" will be adapted for the big screen, I think it would be a fitting death knell for the last decade of "reality" TV.

Wasn't Halloween III all about broadcast signals with receptors built into masks?
