The funeral for Sam Simon yesterday was the most hilarious most inspiring one I've ever attended. His combination of comedy credentials and animal rights activism brought together a great group of people. Many thanks to Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak, Ari Solomon, Mikko Allanne, Ingrid Newkirk, Bob Barker, Jay Kogen, George Meyer, Al Jean, Drew Carey, I know I'm forgetting someone. It was the kind of larger than life truly superior send off that Sam would have insisted on if he were around to plan it himself. And thank you to Tyson Kilmer for taking good care of Columbo. My favorite funny line was George Meyer's opener: "I'm very wound up emotionally. Its kind of hard for me to speak....Its so hot in here."

Stern twitter and show website never mentioned sam's death.
If only Simon had cut the kitten cancer ranch a check Howard would have been fake nicer

Am I missing something?....like the humor?
He should have talked about Sam's dry cunt.

Ohhhhh, so that's why he hammered that subject into the ground over the last couple shows --- how it was totally understandable that shatner didn't go to Spock's funeral and no one should be giving him shit.

He was setting himself up for a no show at sam's service. He seemed th spend a little too much time on the subject.

No mention of Matt groening being there?

Not making any excuses for Howard, but let me run a scenario past everyone....

You live in, and went to High School in Virginia. You've been out 10-15 years. A guy you were tight with back in the day who moved to Florida dies in a car wreck. You've seen the guy 3 or 4 times since you've been out of school.

Do you travel to Fla to attend the funeral? Why, or why not? Just trying to take the pulse of The Shed, not trying to stir the shit....I promise.

A harrible seat at Ed Bradley's funeral set the tone for this whole thing here, for the future on out... if Howard and wifey aren't guaranteed A list seating, as in like as a eulogizer at Joan Rivers' funeral, he ain't darkening the doors of no church/synogogue

I wouldn't travel to the funeral, but I would, since I am a "celebrity" make some mention of it either on my show or on my social media.

To simply ignore it, as far as I'm concerned, is a complete scumbag move. No excuses.

    On the other hand...

You have access to a private jet where you are fed and sit in a huge lounge chair. You wil be chauffered from the airport straight to the funeral. You're worth half a billion or so. All you do all day is read and watch TV and gay porn anyway.

You went to Brad somebody's wedding in California and you've never really known him. You went to Natasha Richardson's funeral and you had maybe one conversation with her in your life. You went to the funeral of Ed Bradley, who interviewed you once.

You also happened to miss the funeral of a nobody, Gary's father. And the wedding of a nobody, Richard Christy.

    Coinkydink?

    All good arguments.

Me? I'm sending a card, and making a donation to his favorite charity if he had one.
