Howard was ratting everyone out for product placement when he had already been doing it for years.
Also by 2003 Howard was getting a percentage of advertising dollars from his show.
He complained about the amount of commercials at KROCK while getting a percentage of said commercials.

He was talking about celebs being paid to go on talk shows & mention a product, I don't remember Howard going on Letterman & doing obvious plugs like this example

Yes he complained, that is a good thing not typical Stern BS that he gets called on. Even he knew it was too much (although he banked)

I distinctly remember the Wig going on and on about Dru Berrymore on letterman mentioning the name of some processed cheese company and that it marked the end of showbiz as we knew it.

Fast forward and most "guest appearances" these days are paid infomercials that he's too much of a coward to disclose to the audience. lisa ann? paid appearance. tan mom? paid appearance. the list goes on.. i can't really remember more off the top of my head from the last 3-6 months because they're unremarkable and immediately forgotten. the show is one big infomercial these days, he's always working an angle, its dead space between AGT mentions.

what's most ponderous is the small potatoes he does bother with - half a billion in the bank but can't leave a check for $5k from fleshlight or wet ass rags corp on the table, then comes across as a hundred yards of dipshit because there's no substance left to few hours a month he comes in and sits his ass in a chair to ramble on.

    Shows have always done that
Well before Stern the last few years
Movie company's get people on Leno/Letterman by buying ads on that network
It was like that in the 50's through today

What Stern was discussing was the actual guest pocketing money for mentioning products that had zero to do with their booking

Howard is an honest company man?

How many times has Stern talked about and loved a movie or show that 6 months later he doesn't like or claimed he didn't see?

How many shit Buchwald clients have been on the show. Stern NEVER disclosing that they Buchwald clients?

The Revolution was the largest fraud in the history of frauds!

What the fuck are you babbling about?
    Who said anything different?
None of this has to do with a guest going on a talk show & squeezing in names of stores or products for a paycheck

99% of shows work in the context of your diatribe (which had nothing to do with my post)

But 99% of show hosts don't criticize others for doing, essentially, the same thing they themselves are doing. There's a huge amount of hypocrisy on Howard Stern's part, as well as dishonesty from the "most honest man in showbiz"

I never heard him criticize talk shows for have sponsored guest on though? That is the same as he does.
10 years ago a new thing started where guest would get paid to crowbar references on talk shows. That was the discussion
I have no idea why Buchwald clients being on Stern is similar :dontknow: bc it is not
If he went on Letterman in 2000 & talked about Snapple the whole time, I can see the point, but he did not

I get the "everything Stern does is wrong" mantra on here, but he does enough obvious shit where stretching the truth isnt needed to call him out on stuff

This is actually a fun and funny show for different reasons.
The show opens with Artie discussing a development deal. Howard quickly tells Artie he is a fat loser and he will get no show out of it. Then Howard proposes a show where Artie tries to kill his father. Artie is laughing but you know it hurts him.
This show also features Howard saying things to upset the crew. Gary cheats on his wife. Fred would be nothing without Howard. Daner doesn't really love Artie.

also KC has everyone afraid in the office. the crew laughs at him and discuss all the meds he has been taking.

I'm sure the tapes team trims and edits this epic event.
The raw lets you hear the setup which involves Howard (the boss) beating down the crew just in case they wanted to leave the plantation or ask for a raise come raise time.
Howard was retiring in 2003....and the staff are nothing without him !!

He out-cunted himself that day. Wasn't the premise that he could make anybody upset?

    Howard is a shame-based animal.
